OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left on 2/8 and I really miss not being able to call him anytime I think of him. It has been a big adjustment. Can anyone give me information about where to stay when I come for his graduation?

Did youget the pamphlet in the first form letter there are some great hotels on there tht give discounts for PIR families ... we are staying at the Ramada alot stayat the Navy Lodge .. Marriott .. residence Inn etc ...

Yes, I couldnt believe it when I saw the Fedex truck pull up. I wasn't sure what it was then I saw his handwriting and I became very emotional when I opened it. His cell phone was in his shoes. the battery in one shoe and the phone in another! Everything was shoved into the box, (not that he would have folded it anyway, ha ha). My husband called the recruiter yesterday and got the address. I had three letters to send out. I wrote a letter a day since he left. ha ha ha.

I'm sure this is not easy for you!! I have been with my husband for 25 yrs. I think boot camp would be great for him, but we are too old..lol...thought a little joke might cheer you up :) How long have you been married? The house is definitely not the same here without my son. Him & his friends were always here on the weekends invading my house & pantry. It is so quiet now!!!

My son also left and arrived at Great Lakes on 2/7/11. We got his box today! Smelly shoes and dirty clothes but it was good to get! I am anxious to find out their ship/division and PIR.
So glad you posted. I keep seeing dates right after Justin left and thought I was going crazy!

Sorry this took so long. My comp has been acting up & crashed the other day after posting. I am doing as well as to be expected & you? The box kinda got to me. It smelled of his cologne, not stinky socks..lol That would be what i would get from my youngest son!!! I"m coping by thinking no news is good news. If we had heard from them already, it would mean they were denied for some reason. That would break my sons heart for sure! Let me know when you get your packet & I will do the same :)

Hello, my wife left for boot camp on the 7th also. I am in the military so I can guess at what she is doing right now.
I don't really know but I thought it was 9 weeks total, 1 week processing and 8 weeks training so it would be over 52 days.

asailorshusband - so is PIR after their 7th full week and they have a week after? I know we don't know anything for sure until we receive the official letter but I thought is was 8 weeks total and than graduation.

Yes this is what i am being told. I'm guessing that he is doing well since we have not heard from him yet :) I would hate for a denial phone call since he has been waiting a long time for this!! I hope your wife is doing well!!
