My son is also going to Pensacola the Sat after graduation I believe.  Send your SR lots of letters.  I have sent my SR the top 10 lines from boot camp, the top 10 reasons Leprechauns hate St. Patrick's Day, the top 10 things to prepare for boot camp, Navy cartoons from Navy Times, good luck wishes from my coworkers matched up to funny pics like GI Jane and my latest feat...I wrote his division a marching cadence song to march to.  Hope they can all sing it, it was pretty funny.
How do you know when they go to Pensacola?  I have been wondering if my SR will have any liberty over Graduation week or not. Do you know how we find that out?
I think our SR's are supposed to find out closer to PIR and tell us. We've made plans for that weekend that we can alter in case he leaves on Saturday. But I hate not knowing yet!
Finally!  Today the treasured first letter from my son.  What amazed me about it was the neat all capital letter tiny printing on what looks like small Navy stationery. He has been receiving all my "excessively daily" letters and his girlfriend's letters.  He mentioned to keep writing every day that he lives for reading them.   He is Medical Yeoman for division.  Kind of ironic as when he gets a rash he thinks he is dying and calls me.  He did say not to "baby him."  Is he kidding?  He is my first born baby and it's hard to get rid of the "mother" in me.
A bit of good news: B said in yesterday's letter that they have earned their Scholastic flag. With the exception of a few, they did very well on their test. From what I found, they must earn an average score of 4.0 out of 5 as a division to earn this flag. It also sounds like things are going better for them and that they are working together better.

Chimelle,so happy for you that you got a second letter.  We got our first last Thursday and were hoping that Thursday's would be letter day.  We got our first ph. call last Wed.  and were hoping that Wed. would be ph. call day.  Neither one happened liked we hoped.  I just want something from him.  Good news about the flag.  Hope the teamwork is getting better.  I've read on other groups that a lot of them are having heaad cold, runny nose  issues.  One son even asked his mom to send him a few soft tissues.  Are they have  to use are too rough.  Maybe we'll get that call tonight.

Whoo hooo!!! thanks for sharing that the Div got their Scholastic Flag. I am so grateful for this Navy Mom group because I hear things that happen that my son J is not telling me- I did get my 2nd letter today- I get them on Thursday's- He was writing at night so had to keep it short he said. He mentioned he passed his swimming test  - doing well in class, the Div is getting better at teamwork , they are working on Drill practice, Procedures and Traditions- learning about weapons turnover with the 9mm pistol, no live fire just practice and procedures.  (I can hear the disappointment in the "no live fire" sentence! HA)  Loves Boot Camp- Proud to be there- and thinks about all the ones who have gone before him.  Most over their colds- himself included. They are all now moving towards graduation. What an exciting thought!!!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing all of that NavyMom!  There is a site that has the BC schedule.  I read that they would be having weapons training this week.  I would love to hear that R loves BC. PIR will be here before we know it.  29 days to go!!
Hangin there Proud Mom!  I think we hang onto every tidbit we hear just like they hang onto every piece of mail they get!  I read somewhere that while they have time to write, they also have to use that same time to iron, and there is alot of ironing!
So excited I got a collect phone call on my cell phone today (to the tune of $12.99!) but worth every penny.  J said his division did not do so well on Marlin something or other )the precurser to Battle Stations.  He seemed worried that the divison would be held back.  They are having some team work issues.  I hope and pray they get that resolved quickly!  He and his bunk mate are the only "old" guys, they are 25, and the rest of the division is much younger.  I told him to be a leader and to help his division mates as best he could.
We got our second call too!  R called home and talked to his dad and then he called my daughter's cell while we were shopping.  Nice to know they can call more than one #.  Said things were getting better for DIV.  He said that ph. calls will probably com more often now.    Still battling head and sinus stuff.  PIR will be here before we know it.
So excited for your phone calls- I did not get one this time- J was probably on watch or something.  Keep praying the Teamwork keeps getting better !!!!  I keep the whole Division in my prayers!
