Hello everyone! My Nephew just arrived last night, and I wanted to see if there were any other M4M's with the same arrival date. I went through this whole boot camp thing recently. My son was in boot camp from December 14th, 2010 to February 18, 2011. It is now turn for my Nephew to succeed in the beginning of what will be an unforgettable, ever learning and experiencing journey! I wish all of your loved one's great success!

I am doing better than I thought I would.  I stay very busy working two jobs so that helps alot!!  I work at an elementary school and this school year is flying buy.  Which is a good thing because we get out the 26th of May and Jason's PIR date according to this website is May 13th.  So hopefully this will fly right on buy with the school year!
Yea, I'm getting to the "better" stage. It was hard last week but maybe next week it won't be so hard. Keeping busy is good, that way you can keep your mind off of them being gone. Working, school, and taking care of my son are doing that for me but I'm always thinking about him. We're leaving to go to his PIR the day after I have my final so I'm hoping that nothing changes and makes the schedules conflict.
When is your husbands PIR date?  Where do you live?  The whole planning for the trip to Chicago stresses me out.  I can't get over the difference in flight prices between super savers and flexible tickets.  Things are so tight finanically that it makes a huge difference!  I am so worried that if we don't buy flexible, something will happen to change his date and then we wouldn't be able to go at all!!
His PIR date is 5/13/11 and we live in San Diego. It is very stressful planning the trip out. I've never had to plan anything like this. And now we have to plan the flight, the hotel, and a rental car. I have no idea what to pick for anything. And it's hard to find refundable tickets just in case something changes. Yea, the gas prices are causing the plane tickets to sky rocket! But I don't want to wait until the last minute because I don't want to have the tickets all sold out or anything.
Here, here on the stress of planning.  At least you can get a non-stop flight out of San Diego.  We have even considered leaving from there because of it.  It would be worth the hour and a half drive.  We can also fly out of LAX but I hate that airport!!  I found some really good prices on hotwire.  They are not flexible but I spoke with someone at hotwire and they said that if dates change, we would have to pay a charge for changing the ticket through the actual carrier.  I am planning on calling and finding out what that fee would be.  It may still be cheaper in the long run.  also, check out this link.  $64 a night and they said as long as you have all the papers for graduation that we can stay here.  It is 6 miles from base.
Are you guys in San Diego as well? It is convenient that there are non-stop flights. I'm glad that they offer fees at least, if they aren't offering refundable tickets. The navy lodge isn't on the base? That's so strange. Maybe there is another base near by the RTC. Thanks for the link. I'll definitely have to look into that.
Hi...No we are not in San Diego.  We are up the road a ways in Riverside area.  Your very welcome for the link.  If you would like to stay in touch outside of this page, I believe you can send me an email.  If not let me know and I will send it to you.  My son's fiance heard from someone who is in same division and they already got their information packet.  So I'm hoping we get mail this week.

Glad to hear there are some of you receiving the form letter!! That is good news! Still waiting to get my Nephew's address so I can send him letters! It's just about this time I began stalking the mailman every week for a letter from my son! Hahah! Sounds funny, but true!! I soon learned that they were allowed to write letters only on Saturdays in the beginning of BC, and then as they (the Division) began working together as a team they were awarded more times to write.  Anyway, Being in California, I knew to expect a letter on Wednesday-the earliest, but, for sure by Thursday. I tortured myself obsessing over the mail and constantly checking my phone for volume and full charge. I'm sure some of you will also. It is not easy letting go of your loved one's; for me, my son, my baby. I had never been away from him for more than a week his whole life, and now he's choosing to forfeit his luxuries and serve his country. My boy becoming a man... an amazing journey for him and me.

Hang in there all of you waiting on your letters... They're coming.

Denise

Hi Denise...We got my son's address from his recruiter on Tuesday.  Try giving yours a call and see what you can find out.

Hi Talally,

There is a lot of info on page 1 of this discussion. Lots of links to get you familiar! The videos are also great. Nothing like getting a view of where our loved ones are and what they are going through.
