Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Son leaving today
Hi everyone,
My son leaves today Sunday, April 3 at 2 PM. I'm so upset and can't stop crying. I don't want him to go and I wish I could stop him. He is only 18 and still so very young in many ways. I want to know how did you all deal with this because I feel so alone and sad. I look forward to the support I can get here and I hope to become an active member in this site. Thank you and God Bless you all especially our loved one's serving.

Yes, I will let you know when I hear from my son. We are taking him out for breakfast this morning with all of our family as a last goodbye and then take him to the recruiter Monday at 10:00 am. That will be the hardest moment. My son went to college for 1 1/2 years. He had good grades but not many schlorships so he enlisted and hopes to finish his schooling in the Navy or when he gets out. Your son is young and the Navy pushes education so maybe your son will start college while he is in. Where does your son go after bootcamp? Mine goes to South Carolina.

After boot camp he is suppose to go to Florida. His job is a airman. Where are you from? I'm from New York City.

Hey Lisa -
My son leaves tomorrow (Monday) morning to go to MEPs and then flys out to Great Lakes Tuesday. He's 29 and been living with us for the past 9 months. He has a degree in Civil Engineering and had a good job but was laid off due to the economy. He's so ready to go to boot camp! I'm proud he's made this decision and I think it will be so good for his future. I know it will be a lot harder for you to see your son leave because of him being only 18, but I've heard so many great things about the Navy and the great career it offers so many young men and women. Everyone says they go in as boys/girls, and come out as men/women. If it helps any, my son says he wishes he'd done this right out of high school instead of waiting until he's 29. I have had a sad week this past week and teared up several times, and I'm sure will cry tomorrow when he leaves, but I know this is what he wants so badly and I know it's such a "GOOD" thing for him. Please lets keep in touch on this wonderful website for us moms.......I'm sure we'll have a lot of feelings to share during the next 8 weeks.

My son left 2 weeks ago and the first 8 days ws the worst days of my life. There is nobody out there that didn't want to let go of her oldest son. I tried everything!!! Last wed. he called my cell while i was at work because he needed some info about us. I was so surprised but ever since then I've physically felt better and can't wait to see him in the uniform and see what great things he'll do from here on out. He turned 19 in Jan. It's always hard to let go ..but I have learned that I hade too.

I know how you feel. I will be experiencing the same thing this Tuesday (5th). He's my only child, and I've gotten so used to him coming back and forth between his dad's and my house. My evenings will seem very empty. I'm soo glad I found this site, too! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as time goes on as he serves our country.
