Hi everyone,

My son leaves today Sunday, April 3 at 2 PM. I'm so upset and can't stop crying. I don't want him to go and I wish I could stop him. He is only 18 and still so very young in many ways.  I want to know how did you all deal with this because I feel so alone and sad. I look forward to the support I can get here and I hope to become an active member in this site. Thank you and God Bless you all especially our loved one's serving.

Those of you who had rcts to leave this week...your PIR date will most likely be 6/3/2011. The PIR group for this date hasn't been formed yet. You may want to form the group OR you can hang out and wait. The 5/27 group has been formed (your rct could be in this group)

You should be able to get their address from the recruiter 72 hours after they left. Here is the link to the RTC website...you need Google Chrome or Mozilla Foxfire browsers to assess the site (not Windows Explorer). Free and easy to download.

Good morning,

My son called me last night at 12:32 AM eastern time, I think that would be 10:32 central time. He called from his cell phone and it was wonderful to hear my babies voice. I guess now his cell phone is packed up and will be send home with his clothing. He told me he was all right and couldn't talk long. I send him a million blessings and told him I can't wait to see him. I know this was the best thing for him being he is so active and has a challenging personality. Day 2 for him in Illinois and today I bet he is using up some of that extra energy.

I look forward to hearing from all of you. Have a great day, take care of yourselves.

Mine is an only child too. He left 4 hrs ago. I was able to go to Indy and watch the swearing in. I am sooo proud of him, but it was a long, hard drive home. If it wasn't enough to be blubbering in the car, he text me with a "love you". Of course, I cried even more. Could hardly see the road. I miss him already. I've been crying so much. I'm hoping to get his short and sweet phone call tonite. I'm just glad there are moms out there that are feeling the same way! THANK YOU!

Kyles Mom,

I have been there. When I got my "Kid in a Box" I looked through it and cried, put it aside and days later went through it again and found a little letter he wrote while waiting to go to BC and when I read it I cried so hard because it was so personal. You will get through this hunny I promise. Just breath, all of us moms are here for you.

I saw my son get sworn in also and  was so proiud of him--even the long ride home full of tears.  My son snet me text of love yous and I will make you proud mom-jsut made me cry harder.  he did call for the brief call last night at midnight-was good to hear from him.  so glad the mom s are all here for each other!!
My son was 24 when he enlisted--and I still cried for a long time.  He is now going on his first deployment & I'm again anxious for him & sometimes cry.  I've been told that prayer is the best answer & that we need to believe God will take care of our sailors & all military members.  It might help you to know that my son, being older, sometimes helps the younger ones if they are having a hard time being away from family.  That makes me so proud of him--he's a good guy & believes in serving his country.
My sonSean just left 1 hour ago  it was so sad but so proud of him

I just got home from work and their was a message from my son stating he had arrived, he'd be calling in 3 weeks and that he mailed the package.  My husband took off today in case he called but we had some problems and he missed the call.  I can't wait for graduation.

I know Moms this is so hard. I didn't think it was going to be this hard. Whats helping me now is my countdown today is day 2, only about 61 more to go. I wrote my first letter to my son today and when I get the sending information I'll will have a few more to send to him at once. Another thing that's helping me is my plan to take good care of myself so when my son sees me he will be proud of me as I'm of him. Got to go do my workout, have a goodnight everyone.

Lisa

I got my brief call too this evening. He was using his cell phone and it cut out in the middle of our talk. At least I know he's there, and safe. Now the work for him begins. I can't wait until graduation either.

My daughter decided to join almost 7 months ago and even though I support her decision 100% I still cry almost every day..Crazy thing is, she has not even gone to MEPS yet. She does that on the 18th..I can't imagine how you all feel. I will go crazy when she leaves but I do know it is the best decision she has made. God I will miss her. Crying while typing this and while reading all these post.

Good luck to all of you mom.. Stay strong...
