While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Anyone else have a son/daughter in this one? I rec'd the phone call at midnight on 3/23 and the letter on Monday the 28th.

What I am worried about is that there is 5 of us going to graduation. My husband and me, my mom and two brothers. Aaron put me and dad and his two brothers on the list, but not grandma, if she cant get in it will be disappointing. I think I can tell him to take off one of the boys and put grandma, but how do I pick which brother? ugh this is stressing me out! Wealso have a daughter going to boot camp in July and she wasnt planning on going but we are going to have the same prod with her grad. :(

You will probably be able to get them all in, if any are under the age of 12 they are not in the 4 people count.

I think they can use the phones after training camp. Our son was planning on getting a plan in CA when he got there; we took him off of ours and switched companies. We'll be using Skype to talk to him more than a phone. I need to ask him if he needs another phone card. He has a 200 mt one, but it sounds like it gets eaten up pretty quickly with the pay phone charges and may need another one.

We are staying at the Motel 6, it is cheap,59$ a night and serves breakfast, dont plan onsppending much time there. It must not be to bad cause it was advertised in the flyer from the Navy and has a shuttle to the Navy base.

I pretty sure mine said that he was an E3, he also has college and grad in 2006. He also is going to BUDS for the seals program.

Im sorry, thats tough to here. Dont ya wish you could go with them to protect them (like we really could) and just be there to talk an hug them?

Just remember that by the time you get the next letter things will be much better, please do not let what you read in the letters get you down, always stay upbeat in your letters. If you are worried come here and one of us veteran moms or one of the members will be here to help you out and support you.

A word of advice for you is to not make any travel arrangements until at least half way through BC as many things can change the PIR date for your recruit such as injuries, discharge, illness and many other things. Do not stress about this, I made my reservations 1 week out from PIR and got great rates on everything. When thinking about flying look into flying into Milwaukee as it can save you lots of money and is the same distance to the base as from Chicago. You are just beginning your journey and will learn so much on this site, if you know what job - Nuke, SAR, etc. join those groups also and you will learn and make more new friends.

Brenda - would you mind making this a group rather than a discussion? It will make it easier for others in your division find you. I will be happy to walk you through the process if you like.

Remember that this journey is just as much about you being in training as it is for our recruits. Things change, schedules change, they can not always tell you everything, there will be times when you do not hear from them for a while, there will be ups and downs and everything in between, they will see people drop, leave the service, rollback and finish their training. Focus on today and learn not to worry about tomorrow. Always be encouraging and uplifting even when your heart is breaking, they do not need to be worrying about us and how we are dealing with things. This Spec Ops journey is a difficult one for the most seasoned of us and hard to grasp when you are still so new to it, relax and breathe and it will get better.
