Since we will all be sitting in the same section of the bleachers at PIR, maybe it would be nice to have us all post something here in this section.  We could keep up with what the Division is doing by the letters others are receiving from this Division as well.

Yay for all the letters!  That is so exciting.  My dtr mentioned the music too which was super exciting.  Did she say what the flag was for?  That is so exciting for them.  That is a great reminder every day of how how hard work pays off!  Thanks for sharing!  It's tough to read those letters when they are so down!  It tore my heart out.  Its a relief to hear their spirits getting better!
Brandi was telling me that the flag they got was an academic flag, said they really beat their brother. Brandi didn't mention the music, but it is great to hear that the RDC's let them listen to some.  Between all of us here, we can keep up with what is going on with our soon to be sailors, since some write more then others, or more details then others.  Thanks to everyone who shares with all of us here in our group.
I agree!  The details mean so much and if we put all our info together, we can maybe feel like we have a piece of what is going on.  It makes me feel no quite as far away!  Bri also mentioned that they had fresh cut pineapple and ice cream!  Then she added that the ice cream made her feel fat.  Lol  I am assuming bc its been so long since they had any treats.  She is not the girl that ever worried about being fat.  Funny to hear!
I have some red, white and blue ribbon that I can make into ribbons for our Division, I will post a picture of them as soon as I finish getting the rest of the stuff I need from the craft store.  I am not asking for any money for them at all, I just thought they would be something that all of us in the bleachers could be wearing to show our unified support for our Division.  I should have some finished before the end of the week and will be posting pictures.  I am just need to figure out how to attach the PIR ribbon to whatever the person is wearing.  But I am sure if I walk around the craft store, something will come to me.  I will make about 200 maybe 300, do you think that will be enough for all the family and friends in our bleacher section?
How nice of you!  That sounds wonderful!  I have no idea how many are in their div.  I have never asked that question.  I'm curios what they started with and what they are down to.  Anyone have any idea???  I love the idea and thank you for doing it!
Safety pins? Corsage pins? Anything would work.
Patti~~good idea, and safety pins don't cost very much either, considering I am going to be needing probably 200-300, I am thinking since I will be having to bring them in a suitcase, I won't use glitter or anything on them, just maybe get a broad tip felt marker and people can put whatever name they want on the ribbon, I can put 174 on them and then leave the other side blank for a name if they want to put it on the ribbon.  I will just need someone to pass them out, since I won't be able to, I will have to be in a wheelchair due to doctors orders.
They could be distributed at the Meet and Greet at the Ramada, or you could have one weighed at the post office and we could sent the appropriate funds to cover it (2 stamps or whatnot) to be mailed ahead of time. Some of the other PIR groups/divisions did that in the past.
Both are excellent suggestions, as soon as I finish them all, I will ask here online how people would like to get theirs, the morning of the PIR, at the Meet and Greet or by mail.
Sadly, this is my 2nd go around (should have had PIR on Friday), so I know some of the basics of what others were doing, and what to expect, etc.  I'm glad no one went with the sweatband idea. Ribbons/scarves seem to be more traditional and probably wouldn't have gone with anyone's attire! At least the ribbons we can save by putting it in their graduation picture frame, shadow box, or scrapbook!
Welcome Patti.  I'm so sorry about how you ended up here, but glad you are with us.  I am so sorry for your dtr and I am sure there is some valid explanation (not that they would want to hear it).  She must be one strong person to endure what she is and will come out that much tougher.  Life lessons are not always easy!  Welcome, you are amongst friends!
It was her choice to quit or take the delay...she chose the delay in PIR. I probably would have quit! But to go 6  weeks out of the 7, I guess she would be able to do it all with flying colors (minus the run, which was her issue). More power to her!
