OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

This is the final test for the SRs. It is a 12 hr overnight drill where they are tested on all they have learned and could encounter when deployed on a ship. It takes place on the Disney-created USS Trayer, a very realistic ship that allows them to be evaluated in all areas. They head over there in the evening and conclude with a capping ceremony the next morning. Here, they trade their "Recruit" caps for their "NAVY" caps, and have now graduated...and are sailors! It is a very emotional time for them after all of their hard work. Later in the afternoon, you should receive that much anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call. These can start around 2 pm GL time, but could come earlier or later. So phones handy all day...don't leave them for a moment! Some may not get calls if their new sailor had watch...he/she should call the next day. When your sailor calls, please ask if all in the division passed and post this info for the other ladies on the board.
Teamwork is the name of the game. They are divided into smaller groups and evaluated as team members and as individuals. This is what a Chief said about BattleStations: 150-300 SRs go through at at time, 3-10 may fail and have to repeat with another BattleStations group. Teamwork is the key. If the SRs keep their mouths shut, focus and listen, and perform well as a team member, he/she should pass.
They go through with their brother divisions. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night. That would include 2 sets of brother divisions, or one set plus the 800 and 900 division (or either). Sometimes only 2 divisions go through, but this is rare. They can start on Wed the week before PIR, but this is rare. They usually start Thurs, a week before PIR. They go in numerical order, from the lowest to the highest, with the 800 and 900 divisions going randomly. They do not do them on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Sat for this PIR group. This is a fun athletic competition between all of the divisions in this PIR group. BattleStations can resume Sun-Wed nights until all divisions have finished. An SR has to pass all tests before being allowed to go through BattleStations. If he/she has not, he/she will be given more chances to pass, go through BattleStations with another division, and be at PIR. The latest this can happen in order for them to be at PIR is on Thurs morning before PIR. If the SR passes their failed test on that Thurs, they will call home to advise family members and will be in BattleStations that night with the next PIR group. They will then be at PIR, in uniform as a sailor, but in the balcony after being up all night.

Dianne, I read that Div.177- 178 is doing BS on the 18th and 19th. If this is true, does this mean that these div. wont be in the ceromony.. I am hoping this is not true...Have you heard this?

Kelly: If it is true that they go on Wed night before PIR...yes, they would be at the PIR ceremony. They would finish on Thurs, the day before and get a good night of sleep that night. Hoping that they actually go on Tues night.
And, no, there is nothing permanent about our schedules! I schedule what you all tell me after talking to your SRs and then sometimes the Navy can change it too. We just do the best we can!

Hi All,
My SR just sent me 2 letters! he said that they have their PFA this upcoming week and BS21 is on day 6-4, 5-16-11 (today is 5-3). Div 7/175 :)

Has anyone heard yet as to when 927 will do BS? I have heard that they are sometimes the last to go?

Connie: Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. They usually go with either the 800 division or 2 brother divisions. So we shall see! There was a time almost a year ago where they seem to always go on Monday nights...and many times, alone. But that has all changed now. They can go any time. If you go back through some of the more recent graduated PIR groups---4/1, 4/8, 4/15. 4/22, 4/29, etc...and look at their schedules in the BattleStations discussion group, you will see where it is all different times.
