Hi rob;

There are actually two discussion groups that have some comments on them for this division that you might find interesting.  Look them up in groups I believe.  One that I know has a parent of a girl is under the group Ship 07 Div 176 pir 5/20.  We have a son in this division.  I hope you've heard from your daughter and that all the news is good.  Our son has written about four or five times and has called his fiancee once at least.  It sounds like they are progressing through the weeks just fine.  They made it through Marlinspike and should have just completed "hell week", don't know too much more then that.  But to being looking at anything called "hell week" from the completed side has to be a good thing!  They've also made it through the worst of what they will experience of cold weather this year at boot camp.  Our son said they had to march in the freezing rain one morning to get their new uniforms (woowoo for new uniforms) and that they were not allowed to close their eyes (which probably is a wise decision while you are marching), or touch their faces to sheild their eyes from the rain.   He said it was a long hike.  They are on the downward slide of their bootcamp days and I'm thankful for that.  I hope and pray that your daughter is making lasting friendships and preparing for a great career in the Navy.

Hey Tracey,

Thanks for the information . My sr wrote my family twice last week. Do you know if all of the swimming test are finished or if anyone failed them? Before my daughter left for boot camp she had no clue how to swim and they said that they were going to teach her, so I was wondering because I knew that she was very nervous about it (as said in the letters). Ship 07 176 pir 5/20 is actually a group that I started so that I could chat with other parents in my daughters divison. I was wondering if you knew about any other groups.? That would be very helpful to my family and I. Thank you so much.

I know that if you go to the bootcamp moms and then to the getting started or go here first or something like that heading they tell you what they are doing each week and that might help to know when they take their final swimming tests.  Our son said they really dont even have to swim just stay afloat for twenty minutes.  I know he said he'd passed that weeks ago, but perhaps they don't all take that at the same time.  Also the video tab has been really helpful to me.  I'm pretty visual and it helps me to see where they are and what their bunks look like and the pool looks like, etc.  Really looking forward to May 20th, as I'm sure you are too.  Are you going to the pir?  We are.  Can't wait.  Though our son is going to be grad and go in the Nuke program so we only get to spend Friday with him, but we will take whatever time we can get.

My daughter called today. She passed her swim test! She just has running test left. 14 days till PIR, she sounded much more relieved.
