Anyone have a son or daughter that left for boot camp May 11, 2011?

My son left for boot camp yesterday.  Wow! What a bittersweet day!  I'm very proud of him, but he left our nest empty.  His brother is in AIT in the Army.  I hope to hear from other parents who might have someone there with him.

My hubby left 05/12, got the box and first call 10 days after he left for BC. PIR is 07/08. Anyone who  have the same PIR, please come and join our group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir7811welcome. Thanks!
I JUST checked my email and saw many nfm comments. could you send a questionaire to my email? it's okaraj24@yahoo.com I did make up another questionaire for my son(it helps!!) but need more ideas. Thank you if you get a chance to do it!
My son left from NY on May 11th. We are all proud of him but his the first to join the military. I really dont know what to expect. I'm reading everthing I can. My so is on ship 12 Div 225

My husband went to MEPS May 11th, but stayed in a hotel overnight and didn't fly out of San Diego until the 12th.  He is ship 12 div 224 PIR 7/8 and will be a corpsman.

I already booked my flight, hotel and rental car.  Can't wait to see him!

He got to call me last Sunday but I missed the call!  I was so upset!

I've been waiting for him to call again :(

How did you find out when his graduation was?  My son left the 23rd so I haven't received a letter or call.  I want to book a flight now to find a deal.  That sucks you missed his call!!  How did you know you missed it?
Call his recruiter and ask. They should have the information by now. If not he can get it.

He left me a voicemail sounding VERY VERY sad, that's how I knew. :(

Still no other calls yet or letters besides the form letter.  I got his graduation date off of the form letter.

Good News! I got a phone call! Yippee! It was wonderful, he is happy, yes happy! He likes it, he likes the guys he's with he likes the food, he is sleeping well, and he is doing well on his tests! My goodness who can complain! How good to hear his voice! He sounds so grown-up! In 3 weeks, completely grown up! Wow, I am impressed!
That is terrific!  You sound thrilled, and rightly so.  I've been then this once, having sent my son off to boot camp in 1997.  I, too, was so impressed at how much he grew up in just a few short weeks.  I'm still waiting on pins and needles to hear from my daughter; really hoped it would be this weekend, but nothing yet.  Maybe tomorrow!  Anyway, congrats!

I'm a little behind but my son left the same day. He is Ship 12 Div 219. How about yours? His 1 st letter came last week. The very first sentence....bootcamp sucks! He is home sick but knows to stay strong. He is married and his wife recvd his daily journal. He has good and bad days, so far. I hope this week's letter is better. We all keep writing to give him support. I can't wait for July 8th!

I hope all is well with you and yours,

Susan

Yes I have a son that left from Nashville tn on that day
