Diannep -- I'm confused.  You wrote: Also, ask your SR when their division's BattleStations is, post that here, and we will get a schedule started.  I thought it was now a violation of security to post the days they were doing battlestations on the web.  On the Forums pages, people are seriously chewed out for posting the day their SR is going through them.  Can you check with Angie?  Perhaps I'm confused.

No, I won't be checking with Angie :-).  I'll say nothing more than that....but I will say that one of our veterans checked this out a few months back when it was posted on FACEBOOK to please not discuss dates for BattleStations.  She called to find out why and the sailor she spoke with was actually the one who had made the post.  She said he was surprised that she thought this applied to N4Moms. He told her there are no issues with NavyforMoms as far as posting dates; they don't like specific times posted, but since we really don't know specific times to post, other than that it is an overnight drill, we don't post times.

What was happening on FB is as usual, people were geting very loose-lipped.  Last names are exposed there too, if their SR's is the same as their own.  That is why I never post on RTC.  That is not the case here (we do not allow last names on this site).  We have been posting BattleStations schedules on this site now for over a year.  The administrators of this site (i.e., not Angie...she is not even at RTC)...have never asked me to not do this.  If they do, I will be happy to comply.  This is not a real security threat...because it is general knowledge that BattleStations are operated almost every night of the week, except for the weekends.  It is also general knowledge that Fri mornings are usually PIR time....where you have all of the sailors and parents in one location for 2 hours.  So...think about it....that would be an easy target.

I am not one to break rules, believe me.  I am one of the most compliant people around!  I only get my BattleStations schedule info from you all.  If as a PIR group you all decide that you don't want to share any info on the site about BattleStations, that is up to you all.  I only post schedules as a convenience for you all and if info is posted.

Thanks for asking about this, though.  It's funny, it was an issue last Oct....then it faded away after we made sure we were ok to do this.  Then someone posted it again recently on FB and it is now an issue again.

OPSEC rules are very important and what RTC says is that they want people to practice not talking about every little thing that could endanger the sailors' safety...of course!  Movements of the ships, etc are not allowed to be posted.  I see warnings from other ladies every now and then on the ship sites when one gets too specific.  But I really feel that general knowledge items, such as BattleStations and PIR, are not an issue.

By the way, RTC will not acknowledge our site at all.  If you post on it directing anyone on there to us, they will delete your comment.  :-)  They say it is because they can't endorse info on this site since civilians are on it.  But the RDCs sure like to read our posts!  :-)

Diannep, Thank you for that GREAT explanation!  Also for your unwavering support to the Navy and newly recruit families. I kinda got confuse on the OPSEC rules before, you explain it so well in lay man's term.. I do hope I could pave the way to the NEWBIES who would embark on this journey like you and the other seasoned moms.

Everything you said makes perfect sense to me as well...however, there have been a few long-time monitors (volunteer or otherwise) who have been ripping people's heads off for posting this info.  It just may be one of those things with no right or wrong except in everyone's opinions...  Thanks for your insight!

Yes, I know about the "head ripper off-ers" on some of those forums.  I would stay off of them!  :-)  Angie actually voiced her opinion on something like that and got kicked off last yr!  Shhhhhh.....See, it happens to everyone!

Rackie:  Would love to have you join us "veterans" to pass on info!  You too, MidwestMom if you ever want to.  It is a great way to "pay it forward" and is very rewarding...you all will be "veterans" soon!

The head ripper-offers monitor the forums like pit bulls.  :)  One of the reasons I respect Angie and you so much is because you lead and nudge newbies with reminders and kind postings.  I don't think anyone ever intends to put their SR or Sailor in danger, but I can understand OPSEC concerns because people write info that has no business on the worldwide web.

I hope to stay on N4M...until my husband does an intervention, lol!

Ha!  Yes, I have the greatest respect for OPSEC as well.  I have a feeling that I am familiar with some of the names of these head ripper-off-ers....because they have been around for a while!  Like I said before, I stay clear of them.  I just sit here....on my little PIR groups...with my newbie ladies...trying to be a GOOD GIRL!   :-)

Funny about your hubby doing a N4M intervention...now THAT is something that is said often on here!  Funny how a group of ladies will do anything to communicate with one another when it comes to our loved ones in bootcamp...even on cyberspace when they haven't even met!  Must be an "estrogen" thing....but so helpful!

Diannep, I would love to belong to your group! I think I'd be a good help for newbies as a wife here in N4M, the more the merrier!

*you make me laugh  about the "estrogen" thing!!!

We will look forward to you joining the veteran ranks, rackie.  We can always use the help...especially with "wife" info since we are all "moms!"  Thanks!
Any dates for your divisions yet?  Post and I will start a schedule above.

Thank you so much for sharing! this is absolutly awesome!

You are very welcome!
