No answers, but I will keep you and your son in my prayers.  Apparently, almost all the SR's get sick during BC.  Too many kids brought in from all corners of the country.  The doctors there are use to it.  Some keep fighting on or only spend a day or two in sick bay; others may be set back a week or more (Ship 6, I believe); still others may be sent to Ship 5 and possibly discharged.  If he is sent to Ship 5 it isn't good, but he would have more contact with you.  In this case especially, no news is good news because you don't want them in Ship 5 if they are hoping to stay in.  Stay strong.  Keep sending him letters and tell him that you believe in him!  Keep sending him encouraging words!

THANKS  FOR THE PRAYERS.. HE IS IN SHIP 11...WE MANAGED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE AT THE FAMILY CENTER AT BC. APPARENTLY MY SON HAS PASSED ALL HIS WRITTEN TEST, BUT BECAUSE OF THE ILLNESS, HE STILL HAS TO PASS, THE PHYSICAL. HE IS A FOOTBALL PLAYER, SO I AM PRAYING AND HOPEING, HE WILL GRADUATE NEXT  WEEK. THANKS FOR THE HELP

Do you know if he has been sent to RCU (Recruit Care Unit)?  That is Ship 4 Div. 2341.  Sick or injured recruits go there to recuperate.  My sailor was injured last year and spent 5 weeks in RCU.  They receive really good care.  They are still in bootcamp and the same bootcamp rules apply.  If there are other developments, he will be allowed to call you to give you status updates.

Unless he goes to legal and adds your name, nobody can tell you anything about your SR except your SR, privacy rules, I know that's frustrating but those are the rules.  Hang on until you receive a letter or another phone call. Praying all will be well.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, I APPRECIATE IT. ITS SO HARD TRYING TO FIND OUT ANY INFO...THANK GOD, FOR NAVY MOMS
Thanks for clarifying Ship 4--I wasn't sure which ship it was in!  Thanks too for posting that it is OK if they don't make it through on time.  Making it through if they can is what is important!
I just have a ? while your son was in RCU when was he allowed to call home? My son was injured last week and I haven't heard from him since the injured call. He was exactly one month into BC. Did you son PIR with a division or how did that work? I'm really curious and of course really nervous and anxious for my son anything will help. Thanks
I understand your worries. My sailor is an only child, former athlete, and spent most of his time at RTC sick. He got a bad respiratory infection a few days after arriving. He ended up with pneumonia 3 weeks before PIR. This was the gas chamber and firefighting week.  He spent a few days on IVs and was able to catch up with another division. This also happened to 2 others who PIRed on March 4th with my son. The Navy will take good care of your son. Remember that no news is good news. My son didn't even tell me about the pneumonia until after he had been released. BC is so hard for everyone. Hang in there.
I really do appreciate the encouragement. I just make sure, he is first in my prayers everyday. Thank you.
Hang in there, Not hearing from him is a great thing.  Just pray for him, he's tough, he'll make it.  Good luck to him and you!
Thanks! I appreciate your response. I have still not heard from him so I am still praying.

That's good news

IT NO BIG DEAL IF HE IS ROLLED BACK.
Please don't stress out if he is in recovery. It's better for him to be fully recovered before he continues. Everything will still be the same. Encourage your son to stay positive, get well. They'll miss their buddies if they started to bond with some of the other recruits. Keep writing him letters - even if you don't get any news.

My son was rolled back at Officer Candidate School because he was just lousy at shining shoes and folding his underwear. He missed it by one point. He WAS furious, especially because his instructors thought it was funny since he was great at everything else. With his next class, a number of prior enlisted candidates helped him in exchange for tutoring in math - otherwise, he'd still be at OCS.
