Ok, so my hubbs is just a couple weeks away from finishing FC A-school and I'm starting to get that impatient itch, wanting to find out where we'll be going next haha. So I thought it'd be interesting to see how long it took others to get their orders after their hubbs/sons/bfs/fiances finished A-school. Did you get follow-on orders for your PDS? And also, did they get what they put on their dreamsheet? Now that they're doing it with the dreamsheet, does their class rank do anything for getting what they ask for?

Ash, no he didn't get the system he wanted but he is happy with the orders. They are to (C)school in Nam Neck, VA.  They are for 177 days. for CWIS mk15 mods.

I wants to come home for leave before he reports.

Hi all,

Things have been changing in the AECF community over the last couple of years and alot of it has to due with budgets, etc. etc.

Our son is an AEGIS FC so he went to school in Dahlgren and is now stationed in Hawaii with the fleet and is on his second deployment.

My hubby was an FC for 10 years and we lived in Japan for many of those years and loved it.  Our sailor son was born in Yokosuka, Japan and really wanted orders there but at the time of his C school graduation there were five sets of orders (five students in class) and the choices were one set to Pearl Harbor and four sets of orders to Norfolk.  Because Nick was Honor Grad for the class, he did get 1st pick so he called to ask us what we thought of Hawaii and we said...what are you waiting for?!  Grab those orders - so he did and is happy in HI and as an AEGIS FC.

He did get to take just shy of 30 days leave after C school, he wanted to save a few days for the books but it will come down to the orders.  Every set of orders will have a Report No later than date and your sailor will need to build their leave time around that reporting date.  In most cases, they do get leave before reporting to the fleet but MOST is a magical word - it all comes down to the ...needs of the Navy.

Just to let you know on Japan orders its for sailors first duty station without dependents E4 and above. We wanted to put Japan on the top of our list, but my husband's instructor said its only available to single sailors. I'm still holding out hope, but not holding my breath for Japan just yet :) Right now the talk is most orders are either San Diego or Norfolk after C school, but it changes with every class.
Did you mean E-4 and above WITH dependents (for accompanied orders)? I'm pretty sure single sailors can get overseas orders (and though they try not to - married ones can get them too but unaccompanied) even if their pay grade is below E-4...

Nope, E4 WITHOUT dependents are eligible to get Japan orders as their first duty station. And from how they explained it to my husband the Navy wants you to get use to the first deployment and military life before going overseas.

I honestly don't know if a sailor with dependents can get Japan orders even if the dependents don't accompany them. But if its their first duty station I would assume they would be there for at least 3 years and I would hate to be apart from my sailor for that long. All I know is if he gets orders to Japan he better take me with him =)

Ash, My son got orders for CWIS m15. It was not what he put on his dream sheet. (he wanted AEGIS)

However, he is very very happy. He can't wait to get to (C)school and start work.

Has your hubby graduated from (A)school yet.  What system does he want to work on?  I wonder how long he will be on hold for?  Let us know what happens.

Nice, Sandy. My husband wants CWIS. No matter what, our boys' (and girls') rate is awesome. :)

Hi Priscilla!!  My son said that everyone in his (A)school class got orders for CWIS.  Your hubby has a good chance of getting the same orders.

Has your hubby graduated from (A)school.??

My husband is in C-school right now at Dahlgren. He graduates on Friday and we just got orders today. We don't have hard copies yet, but he knows what ship he's going to. Now we just need to find out when
That's great Criket! My husband is in Dahlgren too. I'm here for the summer just spending some time with him, but gonna head back to Cali in September. My husband said the last class that graduated had to wait 2 weeks to pick orders, so I'm glad to hear your husband got to pick before graduation. I heard there was a good mix of orders too. My husband is going through all the medical screenings right now. Where are you guys headed? Can't wait to finally know....its been a LONG process!
Well, my husband graduated last week so now we wait! We've heard if you don't have your orders by this month then you won't get them til october when the FY turns, so we probably won't know til oct...
Finally got our orders last week! We're headed to San Diego! :)
