I know it sounds a little crazy....but I finally got to hear my daughter's voice for the first time since she's been gone!! It was a wonderful surprise, I didn't even recognize her voice! I think we spent the first 2-3 min crying; after we told ourselves we weren't gonna do it!! Before I wasn't able to sleep, after her call; my mind was at ease!!

I can't wait for my 3 week call. I too, have a daughter in bootcamp.  This wed will be 2 weeks since she has been gone. We got the form letter yesterday with a short paragraph and I must have read it 20 times already.  Hope your daughter is doing well.  She must be if your mind is now at ease.   Take care    (another navy mom)  Lori

Hi Lori,

I must say when I received her letter I think after reading it completely I read her small paragraph maybe @) times as well and tried to hear her saying it to me!! I think I showed the letter to everyone!! I didn't recognize her voice so don't b surprised if u don't recognize ur baby when she says hello!! My daughter is doing well she made squad leader of her unit..so im very proud of her!! So I hope u hear from ur SR soon, and keep me posted on that one!! Im here if u ever want to talk. I hope ur daughter is fine as well. Take care! (Navy mom) Lahomia
I remember that call, almost 2 years ago now...its the best isnt it? You will find somethings to be the best part of her being in the Navy, lots of stories, lots of new friends, some since bootcamp, my sailor has one that has been a true friend since BC. Not that it helps any but I havent heard my sailors voice since March...she is deployed. The best part I will actually get to hug her in the immediate future as her deployment is winding down. Its a long roller coaster ride, this Navy stuff, dont know if you ever get used to it, I guess as moms we just accept what they are doing, support them 100 percent, pray for their safety and well being, and wait for phone calls and emails...best of luck to you and your sailor.
Hi Kathy,

Yes my daughter talks of 2 new friends that she has met that helps her keep it together because it gets hard there at times! Im just trying to deal wit bc right now and ur daughter has deployed!! I don't know how well I will b able to handle that one!! So im just gonna focus on getting through this first!! Lol! Im always looking for a letter or im always writing to her which helps as well!! Im quite sure ur daughter is fine..I brought myself to finally be able to tell her that if this is what she wants to do that she has my support 100%! Im very proud of my daughter and I know ur ar too!! Keep my posted on her return! Take care! And thanks for ur info! Navy mom..Lahomia
