For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son left from Phila. no one else was at the recruiting station but he had 3 others at meps swearing in with him and they all got on the same flight together.I'm hoping they got to stay together when they got to GL.But I don't know their names either.I also have everything all set and I can't wait!

Hi I also have a son that has a PIR on Aug 19, he's in ship 10 div 264. This is our first military experience. I recieved a letter from our son today and he sounds very upbeat and excited!! We are very happy for him and can't wait ti see him in august. Do they have a family day or a meet and greet?

This might be a silly question but is the meet n greet just for the moms or can the dads come also? My hubby is very protective and doesn't want me to be by myself in chicago.Hes soooo goofy,but thats what law inforcement does to you i guess.

Hey ladies,I have a huge favor to ask. Does anyone from this PIR date have less then 4 people going.My son put me,my husband,my son and his girlfriend(from hell),but my father is going also so I just thought if maybe one of you had an extra spot,we could work together.PS I dont even know if the GF is really gonna go (hope not).I hope I'm not overstepping! Hi, Ruth, I will try to figure out how to do it, I;m not computer literate!!! I am from Illinois, so GL is about 3 hours for us. Is meet and greet on Thursday? If so, yes, we are going on Thursday. We are staying at Red Roof Inn. Pam Winstein

Well ladies,no news IS truely good news.I got the call today at around 11:00 am,as soon as i heard my sons voice I knew something was wrong.As he struggled to get the words out all I heard was "something happened", my heart sank! He went on to say that he wes having chest pain and he went to medical and they were sending him home.This was not the call I wanted to say the least.Yes I'm happy that my some is ok, although I still don't know exactly what the problem is, so I hope he's ok,but the fact that they are seperating him worries me.He did say that he would be able to go back in once he knows everything is ok.Thanks again to all you ladies for all your support these past 3 weeks!

Hi I am new here- and new to the whole military experience! My son left for BC on June 22nd, and since- I have received his "kid-in-a-box" (and yes, cried a little) then a separate letter a few days later, with his mailing address, PIR date, and a quick little note from him at the bottom: "I hate being bald- and it is not as bad here as I thought" LOL
Then a few days ago, I received an actual letter from him~ I was so happy my eyes started watering before I even open it..
He has never been real "wordy" but those few little lines were like gold to me! ;)
Just to put everyone else's mind at ease- he says (again) it is not as bad as he thought it would be.. "The ROC's are pretty laid back, and funny"
and just a funny note: "I was a stick for marching, but I was fired cuz I couldn't step to the beat" LOL now he is on mail p.o. and head crew.. (have no idea what this means!)
Anyway, just thought I would share a little- we have not booked our flights or hotel yet, still searching for the cheapest on both.. how do you find out if If your Sailor is Grad & Go, or if your Sailor has Liberty on the weekend?
