Has anyone made hotel arrangements? If so where and whats seem to be the cleanest hotel with the best deal.  Would be kinda nice if some of us were at the same place!

I made reservations checking in on August 25 and out on August 28.  I figured if we go back before then we will just work it out with the hotel.
We're flying out on Wednesday and back on Monday morning.  If our recruit has to leave on Saturday, we'll just play tourist until we leave.
Since I am going to have my son's (SR) younger sisters with my hubby & I we are going to make a wk end out of it.  My son is a grad & go. However, we fly out Sunday AM.
We are flying into Indy and driving to graduation due to we have family there. We have booked 2 nights Thurs & Friday. If our SR does fly out early Saturday morning, than we will try to go to the airport and stay with her as long as we can and then drive back to Indy. If she does not fly out immediately, we will just book for one more night. I do not like this unknown stuff!!!
Yea thats why Im driving...we are coming from TX so not as long of a drive.  But I dont wanna leave too early or too late so driving seemed the best option.
I am from Texas also.  Am debating whether to fly or to drive.  There are 4 of us going, and I enjoy driving and none of us have ever seen that part of the country before.  If my son has to leave before Sunday, we could have a mini vacation, go sight seeing, or could leave to come back whenever we want, not dependent on a certain day and time for a flight, plus think it would be less expensive to drive.  I am newly retired, so don't have to be back at a certain date and time, but this falls within my daughter's first week of school, but I think she could easily manage with 1 or 2 extra days out of school.  So many decisions to make...

I booked the Ramada from 8/25-8/27. We have to get back home on Saturday :(  I booked our flights too.

For those of you that are flying, are you renting a car too? From what I can tell it's about a 45 min drive from the airport.

we took the days inn because we've stayed at them before in other places and they are always pretty decent for a pretty good price : )
Yea I had looked there too.  I just ended up with Motel 6 bcuz they just remodeled! Hopefully I like it, if not, I have reservations on post just to be safe :-)

Here's what someone posted on the RTC Facebook page (and I've stayed at many Motel 6's in the past and will no doubt do so in the future):

WARNING... To all moms and dads and brothers and sister granmas granpas and aunts and uncles and all pets.... DO NOT STAY AT THE MOTEL 6 in Waukegan. we stayed for the july 29th graduation and i'll put it nicely they should close the doors....
sorry to say not the best of places to stay. hallways smell of animal urine, blankets were dirty and old, carpet was filthy, and not in the better of areas, if its not to late to change your reservations look for a better place to stay, do let people know your coming out for the graduation they will give you millitary discount..... good luck

We book the Ramada for the 2nd year in a row.It was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The meet & greet is nice.Lots of food and you get to stand up and announce your recruit and where your from.I love the indoor pool and jacuzzi.I made sure last year my son remembered his swim suit from base.We didn't stay on base because with my hubby in the Navy I know he likes to be away from the base. Also at the Ramada they give you directions to the train station. It is a double decker train and you can take it to the Navy pier and there is lots to see in the area.My son enjoyed it last year and it was Navy week in Chicago so we got to see the air show.Six flags is just down the road and lots of people went there and the mall.We went to the Jelly Belly factory while we were there.

Maybe I need to call Ramada!! I want to have a pool, something to do if we decide to stay close!
