Hello ladies I did get a letter today (Wednesday) afternoon 11:45. well it was four letter in one evelope I was waiting for the post man at the mail box. However he knew what i was waiting for. it was nice to hear from my SR she was telling me that it been going pretty good for her other then she  having trouble with making her bed. she also said now she will be writing on tuesday thursday and sunday. which means i will be getting more letters God welling. well ladies we only have 22 days left and I am so EXCITED and can't wait to see her. although she still needs BATTLESTATION  I pray GOD HELP HER DURING THAT WEEK OF IT. well ladies that it for now have a good night. Theresa

P.S. she also said that she got her DRESS WHITES and the FORMAL DRESS UNFORM and she got her hats aswell with her dress shoes. she was happy. I am so proud of her. my heart can't express it enough.  good night ladies

The letter I got this week was very nice, almost had a more adult (and kind of sentimental) tone to it. He said things like "missing picking on my sister and home cooked meals" and he also said that something he has learned so far is that it's the little things that matter  :)

I think the transformation of our SRs is in full swing.  My son said that he was doing fine with tests and was to have one wisdom tooth pulled. I asked if that would put him behind, and he said no (this was told to me the night of the phone calls) that since so many were having dental work done, the two days is SIQ would be light training days for everyone else, and that the days could be used as make-up days for those that needed to pass a test.  Jana, I don't know why they would have waited to do your son's dental work.

Stacey-

I agree about the tone of the letter.  This letter, though it came much later than I thought it would, was more informative than he has ever been.  I am banking on "no news is good news" and am hoping that everything is going well.  He says it is.  Said they were having a test Friday (yesterday).

So far is the call received on Tuesday, July 26 the only one that you have received?

Yes, that is the only call I have gotten.  He never mentioned if they'd get another one, I guess they just don't know.  My son said that things are fine and that I don't need to worry so much, even though I have NEVER said I am worried.  I think he just knows me too well!  He also said that one of the RDC makes him laugh all the time  :)
Yeah, my son said that they are pretty laid back and that they can joke with them from time to time
I was so HAPPY to hear that they are now able to write on three different days. But the bad part is, if they choose to write, it comes out of their sleep time.  My son said if they want to write letters, it is only after taps.  The same goes for reading our mail.  That is why back in the first letter I received, my son asked me to only send 1 or 2 letters per week (I had been mailing daily up to that point).

How are you gals doing?  I am so happy that we are finally in the same month as PIR, some how that makes it seem closer  :)  I know that Jana and I are staying at the Ramada, but where are you staying Theresa?

I sure hope we get a phone call between now and after battle stations!  Better not get my hopes up, though.  Did anyone get and "extra" letter this week?  I did not.  But I was thinking maybe there would be one now that they get a couple additional chances to write during the week.  It's just too bad that they have to do it so late at night when they should be sleeping.

Talk to you soon!

I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get a letter this week.  The first week I got my letter on Friday, the 2nd time it was on Thursday, and this week it was on Saturday.  If I know my son, he will stick to writing just on Sundays.  I am getting nervous about him passing everything and am holding my breath that everything goes o.k.  I read somewhere yesterday in some division that not everyone passed battlestations, but they should have a chance to do what they missed with another group.  With ours being the last group, it kind of makes me nervous.  I am praying for our entire division to do well.  Like they say, no news is good news, but I do want to get the "I'm a Sailor" call.

I have been a little worried about the same thing.  In a way, you'd think that RTC would make sure every division (no matter how close to PIR) could make up battle stations and still be able to grad with their division. But it seems since they go last, that that is not the case.  I read a post about it, and it stated that if someone didn't pass they'd have to sit in the stands and watch their PIR group graduate.

Another thing I do not think is fair is that the sailors that will stay at GL for A School get the whole weekend off.  Ones like our sons don't get the weekend.  Everyone should have "earned" the same treatment because they all will have passed the same tests.

Yes, I agree about the weekend.  Too bad we will only have that one day and whatever time we get to spend together at the airport.  I'm assuming yours and mine will be on the same plane, since they're going to the same place, so I guess we can all hang out at the airport together.  I am planning on leaving here on Tuesday, Aug. 23 so that we can just take our time getting there.  I guess we will be on the road when we get the "I'm a Sailor" call.  Would have been nice to get it before I left.  I guess it is possible that another division in the next week's graduation would be doing battlestations Wednesday/Thursday after 279 and 280, but I'm not positive about that.  I think the first divisions in a PIR group do start about then.
I wonder if their PIR groups performing division has BS after 279/280?  If so, the kids who need to re-do it might be able to go with them??
The schedule that I saw earlier, had 941 doing it with one of the earlier divisions, but I don't know for sure.
