Thank you BQB.  You are amazing.

Hope the family issues are the pleasant kind.

where is Personnel Specialist?!?!

got your message
Fantastic - I'll add them when I get a chance.
Would anyone happen to no where an AT would be sent to after A school in P-cola ??
BQB-I didnt see a group for AM,is there a group for this rating?

Aviation Mechanist Mate (Aircrew) AD

Aviation & Maintenance Administrators AZ, Moms of

From my pdf file I only see these two. I assume AM has something to do with Aviation and Maintenance or Mechanist. If the above two groups are not what you were looking for - you might have to start your own group. Lemonelelphant or I will help you start a group if you need.

BQB- Thank you for that info..

I didn't find a group for just AM.  I did find people with loved ones with the AM rating in the Airman Family and Friends Group.  The A School for AM is in Pensacola, so you may want to join the groups, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and/or Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola.  Is your future Sailor still heading to BC in November?  If so, you may want to join the Group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in November, if you haven't already.

BQB, AM is Aviation Structural Mechanic.  It is sometimes abbreviated AMS as well.

lemonelephant- Yes he is still due to leave in november.Cool i was looking for a group that was leaving in november,i will check that out.I was looking if there was a group for AM's just to get some info and stuff on that rating..Thank you for these links its a big help.... :):)
I'm glad I could help.  If you find a group for AM, please post it on here so that BQB and I can update our information.  Your husband may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view.  Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.  There may even be something on AM on there.

Yes, the Navy year starts in October.  This article lists the 31 overmanned ratings.  http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/boards/ERB/Documents/Enlisted...

Know that the classifier at MEPS will know what is going to be open, so your son probably should have a list of 5 to 10 or so ratings that he would consider, listed in order of preference.  While that 90 on the ASVAB is good, it is the subtest scores that determine what ratings he is eligible for.
