Hi, my son graduated boot camp on June 10, so when he shipped out, he was told to bring a few changes of clothes, after the first week of boot camp, I received all his clothes, shoes and i-pod. They will send everything back after a week. Good luck to your son.
If your headed to boot camp, whatever you take with you will be boxed and sent home. My son boot camp was great lakes, once arriving after going through everything. I got a box in the mail with his clothing, less is better. Ask your recuiter
Just the clothes on his back, my daughter shipped out on June 27 and I received "the box" with all her clothing along with her phone, i pod and pocketbook back. To take with him.... a phone card, and stamps.
Don't send anything but a phone card.  They ship everything back in a few days.  I sent my son with a very small gym bag and stuff for the hotel stay the night before they go to Great Lakes and within 5 days we had everything back.  He did keep his phone till then also, then shipped it home in the pocket of his shorts.
I forgot I did buy him a small (tiny) phone/address book so he had address to send mail.

My son left for boot camp on Aug 15th. And I already recieved his box of belongings.Just having a really hard time dealing with him being gone. And also wondering what he is going through.

When my daughter sent her box home it held her address book stamped addressed envelopes and her pre-paid phone card.  That was our experience, yours may be different.  She was also called "a mamma's girl" by her recruiter as our family waited (there were other recruits waiting from other branches with no family) in the recruiters office for her ride to L.A. to be sworn in and shipped out, we were told we could not attend this ceremony and I found out on this website we could have. So there are no perfect scenarios. These recruiters are just people, folks, flawed and human, disappointing, but you can't hold them accountable. Welcome to the military.

I looked through all the questionnaires I could find.  Since I just had shoulder surgery (on my dominant side!), these make writing my SR a LOT easier.  I borrowed, added, and changed them to make a questionnaire that can be sent for those SR's that aren't/haven't received mail.  I'll post a copy here.  Feel free to use it.  The better the morale of the entire Division, the better our loved ones will do!  :-)  Other%20SRs%20General%20Questionnaire%20for%20N4M.rtf
