I got 2 envelopes from my son today with several letters and 2 of the questionnaires. He also sent me a get well card but didn't sign it or write anything inside it. I had told him a few weeks ago that I had broken my little toe. Highlights from the letters--
-He passed Test 2 and got 5.0 on his personal inspection and DMI (not sure what DMI is). They flagged their drill with a 4.6.
-Final PI/DMI was on the 17th, Final PFA was on the 18th, and final test was on the 19th
-He says they start Battlestations on the 21st, but this can't be right
-Says he is working on his finances and got his debit card and started a thrift savings acct
-Got his medical straightened out and got wisdom teeth pulled on the 12th; got caught up with his division after being SIQ a couple of days and LLD one day after teeth pulled; got 2 shots and they got briefed on "safe sex"
-Told me how much his first check was
-Said he ordered his pictures and will pay for them on the 25th and is having them sent to the house; said he also ordered a DVD which should come in 4-5 weeks, and a scrapbook which should come in 8-10 weeks
-Says boot camp has gotten loads of fun that the RDC's are letting them run themselves now which puts them in a good mood and they have some funny stories to tell
-He said after A school he could get a week's leave even though it's technically duty and work at the recruiting station and be home for a week before he leaves for the fleet and that A school is 14 weeks long and will be in San Antonio
-Said for battlestations he was probably going to be a hoseman--was assigned that job, but didn't know if it was just for firefighting or not
-He said they were pretty close to graduating as a battle efficiency division (whatever that is)--that they are on the fence right now, but the division is doing really well
-He said the gas chamber was kinda cool--after they took off the masks, the first 5 seconds weren't too bad, then it just hit you like that--said he was lucky that he was on the first row--Stacey, I guess Alex wasn't so lucky--sorry-
Highlights from the questionnaires-
-Said bootcamp was better than he expected
-Needs to work on making his clothes perfectly folded and that his bed has a few wrinkles (I could have told him that...lol)
-He said at the beginning they had to do IT or PT but now they're doing good
-Said Marlinspike was fun
-Said to send him a tv...lol
-Has lost 7 lbs
-Said he is kind of worried about Test 3 because it's the last one
-Hates most not being able to see people
-Likes the funny random things that happen
-Said he usually marches in the last row on the left or right
-Says that he's glad I'm on NavyforMoms.com , but I'm still weird
-Is looking forward to his job and is hoping his orders after A-school are at sea and wants to be on a cruiser
-Is proud of himself and knows how proud his family is of him
-Right now would most like to drive my car
-His RDC is pretty cool, yells a lot, but he likes us overall
-The first thing he wants to do after graduation is wear civvy's and go to a Motel 6 with some company
-He sounds good and sounds like their division is really coming together
Can't wait to see him and meet everyone!!
Jana, thank you for sharing the info :)
I got a letter on Friday (the one with Alex's "lovely" description of the gas chamber, in it he stated/confirmed that battle stations is Tuesday, August 23 and he said at least 3 times to make sure I am home to answer the phone on Wednesday... like I'd be any where else in this world!! I don't understand the confusion on the BS dates, wish there was a way for us to know for sure. Too bad something like that doesn't warrant a phone call home ;)
I can't believe we've come this far. We have so much to be proud of! It sure sounds like we have a wonderful group of kids!! I was at a festival on Friday and I bought a new blue candle to burn Tuesday night. And my sister is coming over on Wednesday to keep me company (more like keep me sane) while I wait for my phone call.
I have to go to work but I will be waiting as for my call as well. However i will have my phone glue to my side or in my boob's hehehehehe. I am sure not going to Miss that call. I hope the call comes in during my lunch hour. I still waiting for a letter from this week I hope it comes soon.
Have A Bless DAy
Theresa

Well Ladies, we are rapidly approaching "BS Day"! Sounds like the other divisions are doing well. I have yet to see a post about someone not making it through (although I'm not so sure anyone would be eager to share that). Have you seen or heard about anyone not passing?
I have my blue candle ready for tomorrow night. Jana, have a safe trip and feel free to call me if you need someone that can relate to talk to! I am not leaving the house Wednesday until the call comes in. After that I need to run to town and get my banking done, run some errands and a stop off at the nail salon! then home to pack. We plan on leaving around noon on Thursday. Hope you all have a safe trip to Ilinois!!

Jana, I will definitely do that for you! And like I said before, you are feeling anxious while waiting for the call, just give me a ring and we can chat a bit. My candles are still burning, it's 12:30 a.m. here, but my hubby says I can't leave them going all night. I might though, I may just sneak one of the two in our room and put it on the dresser. He'll never know, he sleeps like a dead log!! LOL
Have a safe trip tomorrow, be careful on the roads!
