DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I am in the Delayed Entry Program and I am set to leave for Boot Camp on December 7th. I've been going through a lot of stressful stuff lately and I am thinking about quitting the Navy. Does anyone know what the consequences of quitting at this point are? Thank you.

ImThinkingNavy,

We really have your back here. Some of our comments may be are pretty straightforward, no nonsense and not sugar coated. But you really sound like YOU have a lot to offer. Between all of us we have gazillion years of experience. I can tell you from my personal experience that men who are out to control you by pushing you down are bad news. I don't mean me - NOBODY controls me. I am talking about girl friends who in their younger years were full of promise but were scared of losing a boyfriend, so they sublimated their personal goals to be with these guys. Some got married, had kids and NEVER recovered. The kids were abused - and the cycle continues. No, I never say, "I told you so." It would be too unkind.

You have the choice right now. We are not saying you have to join the Navy but do something for yourself. Look in the mirror every morning and say, "Yes, I can do this."

BTW, I have been happily married for almost 30 years. My husband is as thrilled by my successes as he is by his own. As a matter of fact, he has offered to be a house husband, work on keeping his body beautiful and cook gourmet meals.

You stick w us. We'll be coming to your PIR.

Right on Bunker I havent been to a PIR since 1988 and would love to go again...ImThinkingNavy  time is coming for you to stand tall stand proud and be the person YOU WANT  to be...we got you if you need us..
You are all so incredibly helpful. I cannot thank you enough. All of your feedback is far more than I ever expected.

One other thing - DO NOT delete your profile - it will delete this discussion. We want this to stay up. Whatever you decide, come back and tell us. Periodically, give us a progress report. There are all sorts of things that a person learns only after having experienced it (things that has to do with the business of living). You have an extra support system here. Think of us as a bunch of Navy "Dear Abbys" (if my husband saw this - he would say "ramped up Dear Abbys"

You are probably wondering why we are here. The reason is you and our sons/daughters are our future. We have to find ways to ensure that our next generation enjoy the same successes that we have and more. No point in keeping our knowledge a secret. The more information we share, the higher the probability that something good will happen. I am a firm believer in the power of positive thinking and spreading the good karma.

Imthinkingnavy...

Have a friend who was in the navy...

High school Sweetheart supported the Navy decision...

Got married to High school Sweetheart...

High School sweetheart would not move with Sailor...

Sailor was under stress because of separation and medically discharged early...

They were legally separated less than 3 months later and are now divorced...

Ex- Sailor now working crappy dead end jobs...

True story...

PLEASE do not let someone make this decision for you. You are so young, and I realize you see the world through rose colored lovey dovey I'd be lost without him glasses, but let me assure you if he is putting stipulations on your relationship, you are already doomed to fail.
