For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Items during deployment?
When the sailors are on deployment are they able to have their own laptops with the internet? I figured there was no internet out there but a friend of mine said there is. I think you all would know the right answer.

there are computers on the ships they are allowed to use but only at certain times and they do have blackout periods

So that means I would be able to skype with my hubby? Thats what he is hoping for but I told him its probably only for emailing.

I think you can skype, but I may be wrong....I thought my son said he was able to skype his wife,but only on the ship's computers. He took his laptop so he could use it for photoshop etc. but no internet while on board. When they have a port call they can use their laptops from the hotel room (if they get one that is)

Not too sure about the skype on the ship, my sailor just completed her deployment and I didnt hear of anyone able to skype. You can send pics, just send one at a time or they will get sent back. When they get to port, if there is WIFI there, they can use their computers for whatever they need, just so that you know, it will be in roaming, and it costs a fortune, a girl I work with just used her computer on vaca in Canada, and the roaming for a week was 375.00. but if the WIFI is free and not using his wireless card its free. We have sprint and they let you put the wireless card on military hold, no point in paying for something you cant use. My sailor was lucky, she is in a squadron and they have their own computers, so she has much easier access to email, and she did email everyday, sometimes more than once. They will have times that missions are more critical and they will have what they refer to as "river city" and all outgoing communications are stopped until the ship determines when they can have access again, all kinds of reasons for river city, so be prepared. He will be able to receive emails just not reply, there is no time limit to it, sometimes you feel like you are writing to your computer cause you dont get a response.
