I am inconsolable.I never knew this would be so difficult for me. My son graduated from high school a little over a month ago and left yesterday for boot camp, My daughter is ten years old and I love her dearly but I am lost without my son and cannot stop crying. I feel lost without him. We were so close we did so many things together, I don't know what I am going to do now that he is not here with us. Has anyone ever been in this situation? If so please respond I could really use some comforting words about now.

I also heard moms make extra copies (take extra copies with them). When we travel - I often take a bright color plastic jacket with dividers. I always take the instruction book for the camera and review briefly before the big day.  I take a number of maps and I have a list of cities with the highest crime rate (to avoid) if I am traveling to a big metropolitan. I also have in the folder insurance cards, phone numbers of credit bureaus and credit card info (numbers scrambled) and phone numbers from the back of the credit card.  I better stop before you think I am totally anal.

I need something that will allow me to carry my phone around my neck...lol.  I put it on silent in church, but hold it in my hand and sit where I can leave if my son calls.

I know the feeling.  I take my phone everywhere...literally.  If I realize that I left it sit somewhere I feel as though I'm gonna have a panic attack.  I sit there and say "Oh my gosh, where's my phone"  and in my head I'm just going crazy trying to figure out where I left it, saying to myself "what if called and I missed", like truely in a panic.  I take it outside with me, to the bathroom, I lay it next to my head when I do to bed, to work, in meetings with the boss (thankfully he is understanding enough to allow me to do this).  I had to go to the Family Court (I work for an attorney) yesterday and the guard said I had to turn my phone off.  I turned it off, went straight to the bathroom and turned it right back on.  I don't know what I'm gonna do this Friday.  I am flying out to Kansas to see a friend of mine and we all know that you can't have your cell phone on while your on the plane.  I have a 2 hour layover but during the time I am flying I'm going to be going crazy thinking I missed his call.  grrr
I would be the same way at church too.  I haven't been to church since he left because I ended up moving an hour away from my church so I don't go as often as I would like.  I have been trying to find one where I live but you know there is no place like your home church.  :)
Wondering how you are holding holding up ktzmom02??? It has been a week since my son left, it is still rough knowing that when i get home from work he isnt here. And of course checking the mail each day. I was soo glad when I received that first generic letter and his little note.
I just joined the site yesterday.  My son left for BC on 8/23/11.  I'm doing better each day and this site really helps.  I see you posted on July 6.  So, I hope by now you are feeling much better.  I just need to stop crying.  It's messing up my makeup...(smile).

Surprisingly it gets better JordansMom.  I personally didn't believe it at first.  Quite frankly was sick of hearing it.  hahaha.  At any rate, write a letter every day.  About anything and everything, keep it up beat and funny and full of how proud you are of him.  That helps the most.  I found that my boy got a kick out of me including at the end of each letter Mommaisms (things I used to, and still do, say everyday to my kids).  For instance "Who's socks are these on the floor?!"  "be a good boy, play nice with the other kids, eat your vegetables, don't play with your food, don't lick the dog"  etc...  I went way back to when they were toddlers to come up with stuff.  hahaha

As your son succeeds and achieves his goals in BC your love and pride in him will overshadow the pain (emotional and physical), of letting him go.

BTW, I quit wearing mascara for a while so I didn't look like Tammy Faye Baker.

I remember telling Eaglemom that it would get better oh many many moons ago when her sailor first went in. She read me the riot act. Told me I should not deny someone the opportunity to feel their pain. I thought to myself, "What a bitch!" and steer clear of her for a year. LOL I am so glad we finally got together; otherwise, I would not have met a wonderful and compassionate lady.  The spectrum of emotions is very wide. We just have to roll with it. Take care moms. BQB.
Thanks so much for the support.  Sorry it took a bit for me to respond.  I'm still learning my way around the site.  I received his box yesterday.  I was full of emotion.  I threw all this clothing in the wash.  Well all except his shirt. It smelled of him and I found that to be comforting.  My youngest son (17 years/ Navy ROTC) says he is going to check me into the nut farm....lol.

Hi ktzmom02,

I am lost as well.  My son is almost 21 and he left for boot camp on 8/17.....I cry all the time!!!  I also have 2 younger children at home, 1 is 11 and the other is 9.  My son and I have never gone more then 1 day without talking to each other....boot camp feels like an eternity.  I am waiting hopefully everyday to get something in the mail from him.  I am hoping it will get easier as the time goes on.

It's a day by day, moment to moment process Kimberly.....I also have dealt with lose of babies.  I worry about Dan as well.  I know he is in God's hands and I pray everyday for him, it does help.  Being on the website and looking at other discussions has really helped me also.  It doesn't mean I've stopped crying...cuz I sure haven't, but it's good to know their are other moms out there who feel the same way.
Don't worry, they'll be discharging your daughter real soon - there's a rule at BC - beautiful girls get sent home immediately for the group to have any chance of getting through the program. What is she doing there anyway? Why isn't she a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader or Ford model?  We live in CA, my younger son lives/works in ND. He got here on Sat. Hubby is driving him to the airport. The time just sped by and I am pissed!  Otherwise, I'd be asleep instead of pounding on this d**n keyboard.
