This discussion is for those who have an SR in Ship 04, DIV 820 and 821,  PIR 10/14/11.   These are brother divisions and will be spending a lot of time together from what I understand.  Remember OPSEC rules and for security purposes...no pictures of your SR or names of SR.  God bless you all!

Amen to that prayer!  One of the veteran moms said that the phone calls happen as a division, so when we start getting them, we will have to try to let each other know!  I feel so blessed to have you all in the group!  Have a great week!

Merida K - you need to contact Mama Bearr, she is a navy girlfriend from the same division :)

Welcome...I did try to send a message to Mama Bear, so if you get a hold of her, make sure she joins us here!

I sent her a note.  I am the SR Mom :)  I am happy there is another girlfriend in the division, it will be very therapeutic for you two.  My husband was in the navy for many years and I know first hand what its like and once I made friends with other wives/girlfriends it helped a lot.

Thanks BlueBetty! I am sure it will be helpful to both of them!
BlueBetty-We are both Navy mom's who have been blessed with SR's in the 800 division and their wonderful girlfriends.  Merida K is my "connection" with my son.  I feel like spending time with her is close to being with my son because he is very much in love with her and they were inseperable the last 18 months he was home..  I hope all of us can meet up at PIR!

I am so looking forward to meeting you and Merida K.  We are going to the meet and greet, are you?  My SR and MamaBearr have been together 19 months :)  Too Cool.  I was a Navy Girlfriend 24 yrs ago, I wish I had a support like this back then.  Those 6 month deployments get lonely.  Our SR sounded in good spirits.  His Dad, family and friends had prepared him well.   So I knew he would be just fine, but seeing it in his letter was a huge relief.  When he decided to quit college and go in the Navy I cried for a week.  I told him don't tell Dad yet because he will be excited and its not his life its yours and this choice is yours 100%, no one else's.  Watching his committment this past year training and now reading his first letter makes me so proud.  I know everyone on here feels the same way.  I still cry daily and determined its not sadness, its letting go and knowing when we see them we will see a man and be searching desperately for that little boy deep inside.  Take care and glad we are all in this together and they great girlfriends supporting them!!

thanks Merida!

Hi all! Happy Monday, Hope everyone is holding up well!

Remember if you start making reservations , pay attention to the cancellation fees and change fees as it does happen that some of the guys get injured or don't pass a test or something, and they can be rolled to another PIR date or dropped from the program depending on the injury. Southwest Airlines doesn't charge the fees and if you need to cancel you have up to a year to use the money towards another ticket to anywhere they fly. Also, some have found it cheaper to fly into Milwaukee as it is also just over an hour from base.

The hotels in the area are pretty good about date changes and cancellations without fees.
I did make a reservation at one of the hotels and they said that if a change of date happens, as long as it's before 3 o'clock the first day of the reservation there is no charge.  Thanks Texas Sailor Mom for reminding people of the fees for airlines. :)
Merida...I don't honestly know, but we can ask one of the veteran moms and she can probably direct us.  I want to hug my son, so I guess we all need to find out.  Great question. I will get back to you.
Ok, no pics, no names, I think I'm good now.
