My Sailor is a student and will be riding out the hurricane in her housing area.

Hope she is safe.   Does the Navy check on people that are left in the area?

Question #2.  My Sailor has been very sick.   It started with a UTI and was given cipro which in turn caused more problems.  The diagnosis is C-Diff.   My sailor has been in and out of the ER about 3 times and placed on 3 different antibiotics.  This bacteria can be life theatening if it is not treated.  The instructor at the school do not seem to believe how sick at times my sailor is.

Is this normal?  Some of the staff have been very understanding.   The Navy finally got my sailor to see a specialist.  Hopefully this will help.  As a mother I really wanted to call someone to complain.  I have not done that.  Any advice on what I could do in the future.?  It seems no one would speak with me about my sailors condition.

I would stay in touch with my sailor as often as possible to keep up with her condition and what actions was being taken, however, I was told the worse thing a mom could do was the call their CO for any reason. I am not sure the care personnel  will talk with anyone other than the patient.  Talk with your daughter and see how she feels about the antibiotics and the direction of the end result which is to be relieved of this problem.  I just went through a UTI (first one in 30 years) and they also gave me cipro (which made me sick to my stomach).  I was thinking everything was clearing up and now I believe I have kidney stones.  Of course your daughter is too young for kidney stones.  I just read a blog that was reassuring about the ones that are staying on base.  It said they are well taken care of and checked on.  My son's ship has left dock until the storm is over. It is hard being a Navy mom.
keep in touch with your daughter as often as you can  get your updates and advise her of questions to ask    encourage her to avoid dehydration   drinking fluids for both the uti and c diff    my son became very ill on deployment lost large amount of weight    made several trips to medical   is now back in port and was sent to specialist on arrival back to norfolk    it is very difficult to be a parent and not be able to physically care for your child when they are ill
