My son left Wednesday the 10th for boot camp in great lakes IL. I miss him so much, not hearing his voice is driving me nuts. I can't wait till I get his address to start writing. I need alot of support, I know he will be fine. He will be strong. This is a great idea to have this page to give support to those who need it and have been through this and are giving support.

I can't be much support other than I understand.  My boy leaves on 8/16.  I've been crying off and on for a week.  Was dumb enough to watch a baby video yesterday.  What was I thinking?  He's been out with his friends, going to concerts, eating out and having so much fun and for that I am appreciative.  He has a very supportive friend base.  Also, he hasn't had to see me melt down but once or twice because he's been gone so much!  For that I am grateful and appreciative!  I am so proud of him and I know he will be successful.  I tell him often how proud I am.  What he doesn't know is the upcoming void in my life is GUT WRENCHING...  Does it get easier after they leave?  Here I am answering your request for support by asking YOU for support.. Forgive me..

Hi. My son left august 8. The first day was awful. I am slowly adjusting to his absence. I cried a bit yesterday, but today has been good, so far. This page has been my lifeline for weeks now. I have found since Aaron left, I am here constantly. I hope to get the form letter this week. I am a teacher and we go back to work tomorrow, so I will stay busy. Hopefully time will fly. Best wishes to you and your SR.
Hi- my son left August 9- and we are so anxious to get his address. We miss him and too are trying to adjust to the void. I have my weak moments but am so proud of him and know he made the right choice for his future.  We are constantly thinking of him at different points during the day and night, and wondering, what he is doing or how he is feeling.  Can someone tell me what the form letter is that everyone mentions?  This is a great site, and wonderful to be able to stay in touch with other families.  Best wishes and thank you for the support.....
Go to the New Moms Stop Here link provided by lemonelephant. Click on the PAGE with an example of what this will look like.  The pages are located just underneath the member icons. We also have videos, a survival guide, links and more.
Thank you, still trying to get an address. Hopefully today.
My daughter also left on August 9th
My son also left on the 10th, I know how you feel not be able to just pick up the phone and talk to him, yesterday I was very quiet and a bit sad, but today is a new and brighter day, I guess that's how it is for me right now, this site gas helped he sooo much. Have a good week and let's hope to see a package or something in the mail soon. Take care and good luck to your son and all our sons and daughters. Gina
Thanks, I feel good too, I don't feel like there is anything wrong. I just received his package so happy to have gotten that plus I just got his address from the recruiter. so I'm on my 5th page of writing. Lets stay in touch and keep the prayers going for them. I'm so thankful for this website and being able to keep in touch with others going through the same thing as me.
My son left on the 10th also.  I am patiently waiting to get his box.  I have been trying to find wacky news and funny articles to send him.  I am afraid if we write to much on how much we miss him, he will get home sick quicker.  When I drive up to the drive way and see his car it throws me off.  Almost one week down, I am hoping the rest go by just as quickly.
Thanks so much for the tips.
My only child, leaves Nov. 11, 2011. I am so not ready.

I got to hear from my son Wednesday, because he needed some info, was happy i forgot to put something down. He sounded great. I can't wait to see him on Oct 7th. :)
