This discussion is for those who have an SR in Ship 04, DIV 820 and 821,  PIR 10/14/11.   These are brother divisions and will be spending a lot of time together from what I understand.  Remember OPSEC rules and for security purposes...no pictures of your SR or names of SR.  God bless you all!

I got the same feeling from my son's letter.

I know for some in these divisions this is the 3rd week, so hopefully if they are pulling together we will be getting calls in the next week or so.  Just a reminder to keep your phones close.  I am new, too, but it sounds like they call as divisions for their main call...others may get to call as a reward or for information, but when we get the ones where they can talk, I think it's as a division.  So....keep your phones close.  I actually, when I leave...hopeful and just in case! :) forward my home phone to either my, or my husband's cell, so we don't miss it. Those longer ones have to be earned, so hopefully, they will be working as a team and meeting expectations, and we will get those calls!  Hang in there ladies!

Did anyone find out if Monday will be a holiday for the SR's?  Is it like Sunday and they get some free time?

I was hoping the same thing about Monday. Maybe that it was an extra day or chance for writing if not calling. It's getting to difficult to not have any communication besides the note on the form letter. Funny, thought when I got that it would last me for a year, I was so overjoyed! My SR left 8/17, and I know some got letters and some did not yet. Give me strength, Lord:)
I need a letter too!  This is so tough, much worse than I thought it would be.  My son has been going to college and busy with his life and work.  We have a younger son, we are always busy with his school/activities, I travel often for my job - so I thought piece of cake, we are use to seperation.  Not true.  At some point every day I have cried - could be a happy thought cry, a little sniffle as I look at his things or a FULL BLOWN UGLY CRY saying God I miss my son, please let me hear from him.  My husband has been pretty sad too - but he was a Navy guy for many years and said BC is a cake walk, he is fine.  Well maybe 28 yrs ago for Dad it was "fine" - but we are talking about our little boy in a place I don't have control over what is happening, is he happy, well fed, sleeping good - this is not a CAKE WALK ... well for me anyway :)   Have a nice weekend!!!

BlueBetty and Anne,

I KNOW your boys want to write to you guys as well.  I bet you will get one this week.  My son is in 820, and I think they might have been through processing sooner than your division.  I think they are all figuring out how "their division" can work together as a team.  Hang in there...you will get one.

We love our sons and you are right, that we are on a learning curve as well, here.  I know my lesson will be one of patience and knowing that God can take better care of him than me, even though I am sure I will try to take it back once in a while!  I am praying that all of our boys are doing well, becoming the men that they are supposed to be and that we, as moms, will know in our hearts and souls (and hopefully with a little communication from them!) that our love and encouragement is helping them through it all.  What great young people we have that they would want to do this.  I am so thankful for them and for you all.  We will get through this together!

I am praying you will hear from them this week.  Hope you both have a good weekend with your families.

Thanks for the encouragement.  I believe this will be our lucky week :)  Only 40 more wake ups!

Thanks past45 for your comments and encouragement.

My son is in this group and I'm so glad to find other family members with this in common!  I am so excited to see him at the PIR I can't stand it.  I've only gotten 1 note from him so far and am anxiously waiting that 2nd phone call.  My cell phone hasn't left my hand since he left. Does anyone out there happen to know will the phone number he will be calling from be the 847 area code as I saw or does the base actually have their own area code?  Crazy question I'm sure but someone had suggested to me the possibility......

My cell has not left my side either... and my husband is staying close as well :) We received that first letter last week and he is not enjoying his time there... as if we didnt know that was going to happen. And tried to prepare him for those exact feelings. But he is the baby and it is hard to not be there for him. I know they must do this by themselves as a team. Is it October yet!?
It is so nice to be able to communicate with others that really understand all these emotions. Is everyone going to be staying at the base or a nearby hotel for the PIR?  I will be going solo....my husband and I will be relocating later this month and he will have to start work as soon as we get to our new home and can't come with me.  Is my kids going to be too tired for activities I wonder?
We are staying at the Ramada. They have a van that will take you to base the morning of PIR.  Also says they have a reception.. dont know much else but they also have an indoor pool and since I am bringing my 2 younger children that are anxious to see their SR that was a selling point as well.
