My SR got phone time yesterday, and tried to call his girlfriend.  She's a senior in h.s. and her teacher wouldn't let her leave the room, and she missed the call.  She was pretty bummed, but was better when she received 8 letters from him yesterday afternoon!  Hope you get your call soon!  :-)  My SR is the "laundry PO", and there is irony in THAT!!  *lol*
Finally!  We got a letter, written over a 2 week period.  So exciting to have something to help fill the void created when he left.
The letter we got on Thursday was dated 8/30, so not sure how long it took our SR to write it.  So glad I found the right group!  :-)
Glad to hear people getting calls and letters from their SRs! We too received three letters (two in one envelope, one in another) on Friday. My daughter is in the nuke program and something came back funny in her tests...they thought she had pneumonia which would have set her graduation date back. But she made it through, fit for duty, and she sounds good. She says the hardest thing is the down time, where you sit around cross legged (no chairs, can't lean against the racks). Well if that's the hardest thing, ok!
That is awesome, my daughter is a nuke as well. Is your daughter going to SC, for A school? Let's keep in touch.
My son is going to SC for nuke school too.

And my daughter is going to SC nuke school too.

Anyone with a Sonar Tech?

Just wondering if anyone has received a phone call yet, I'm half afraid to live the house incase I miss the call, that would be my luck!!!

How's everyone doing?.. I'm hanging in there, just counting the days until PIR. I'm writing letters every few days and hoping to hear my son's voice. Please!!!!

Mattsmom, I think the phone calls started a couple of days ago.  I'm not sure how it works.  My SR was able to call his girlfriend, but her teacher wouldn't let her out of class (she's a sr in h.s.).  We've told him that his primary focus needs to be writing and talking to her, so we're not expecting a call, though it would be great.  Unfortunately, my husband's cell phone was run over last week (he's a deputy) and he's using a replacement phone & # for the time being.  We're hoping his new phone will come in in the next couple of days and he can check to see if our SR tried to call and left a message.  Here's to you getting a phone call SOON!!  :-)

MandySue, thanks for your reply. My son has been there since 17th August, so 4 weeks on wednesday. Hopefully the call will come soon, looking forward to hearing his voice.

Sorry about your husbands cell phone, that sucks, hopefully your son has left a message for you and him as he didn't get to talk to his girlfriend. Poor girl, she must be so upset that she wasn't allowed out of the class.

How old is your son, mine is 18.

Do you mind if I send you a friend request?

Nope...not at all.  :-)  My SR is 18, too.  He's the laundry PO, so I'm sure your SR is familiar with him.  *lol*  I encouraged his girlfriend to have her Mom talk to the principal and explain the situation.  The h.s. said that if they were married, it would be a different story.  I've also told her, though, that I'll gladly go in with her Mom, too.  We'll see what happens.
