Submarine moms are special:

--- All of us have boys, "SAILORS!"

 --- Who serve on "boats,"

 --- With whereabouts unknown, and

--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out!

Hi, my son just joined the crew of the New Mexico and is deployed as we speak. He left for boot camp this past February, then went to A school in Meridian, Mississippi (he's a Yeoman) and then to sub school in Groton. He is stationed in Groton. He is still a seaman recruit...he says he's probably the lowest rank any of the crew has ever seen. I feel a little uneasy that he is still an SR...he is working on his quals but I didn't realize it takes a year or so. He called me last night as they were in port...I would love to be in contact with other New Mexico parents.
Hi, Candy!  Not to worry so much... the crew will be helping him accomplish those quals.  And if you look at the post (2 up from this one) BunkerQB made, click on the link "group listed by name of us," you'll find the USS New Mexico group.  Hugs! k.

I am new to this whole Sub thing, my son is on the USS Maryland, he has been deployed I have no information where he is or or when he is suppose to come back. Its been 3 weeks now.... I need some advise on how I handle this. its driving me crazy not knowing....

My son Zackary is on the USS Springfield.  We get emails from him, but of course no information really.  I love it when they get into port someplace and get to call us.  Miss him so much, but am so very proud of him

Sailorsmom: it is not unusual when they are deployed to not hear from them for weeks or even months. When they say run silent - run deep. They mean it. Don't worry, I'm sure he is fine. The last time my son was deployed, I didn't hear from him for more than 7 weeks. I got antsy too, but he contacted me as soon as he was in port.
sailorsmom - What MeeMaw said is correct.  I just heard from my son and it had been 10 weeks.  Just remember that "no news is good news"  when you are waiting.  We are always here if you need a hug or to chat.  This site has brought all of us together for the good!  And remember it is ok to cry when your having a "MISS MY SAILOR!"  moment or day!  we all understand.  Keep your chin up and a smile on your face  :)  Its all a hurry up and wait game...
Hi everyone! My BF and i just found out about a month ago that once he is done with SOBC (nov. 4th) he will have to report to the USS Greeneville in Pearl Harbor on November 20th! I will be joining him after i finish school this semester.
My sailor recently returned from his first deployment on the USS Bremerton.  He is stationed in Hawaii.
My son, Ian, will be SECF on the USS Boise in Norfolk, Virginia. He actually will arrive in Norfolk on October 24th.
My son is on the USS Topeka. Anyone else?
