This discussion is for those who have an SR in Ship 04, DIV 820 and 821,  PIR 10/14/11.   These are brother divisions and will be spending a lot of time together from what I understand.  Remember OPSEC rules and for security purposes...no pictures of your SR or names of SR.  God bless you all!

I didn't get a call this week though my sr thought they'd get one more before the 'I'm a Sailor' call. However I must admit I have left him NO need whatsoever to call confirm how many guests! Wish I hadn't been so clear on that!:)if it meant missing talk time:)

Anne Darlene - how is your son?  Any word yet???  My son said the kids were all feeling much better, so I pray your son was too!  Keep us posted.  Take care.

New to group... my son is in Div 820... going to Seals - A school in Great Lakes next... does anyone know what they can have in A School?... Car?... Cell?... Electronics (TV, Stereo)... I am getting mixed messages and information... need clarification... appreciate any information... thanks!

I am not sure what they can have for sure.  I know we are planning on taking, his cell phone, charger, and laptop for sure.  But we are driving, so we have room. I will try to get in touch with one of the veteran moms and maybe she can clarify what they can have.  I will get back to you  on that.

Hi PANavyMom!  My SR also is headed to BUDS Prep School there in Great Lakes after PIR as well.  From what i understand, they can have their laptops, cell phones, ipod, etc.  He is sending me home a list of things that he would like for me to bring to him for after PIR in his next letter.

Mine said he can wear his own underwear and shoes - which excited him.  So I am bringing those items.

That's good to know, BlueBetty!  I will bring some as well.  I also asked a veteran mom whose son was in Pre-Buds.  She said they can have cell phone, laptop, ipod but there is no wi-fi in their rooms so they use their phones as a modem or find a hot spot.  She said her son got an xbox, but then had to ship it home before San Diego, or they have to donate it or something.  She said the big items can get expensive to ship home, and they have other stuff they have to pay to ship home, uniforms, etc.

She said they will be able to take cell, laptop and ipod to SD., too.  I hope this helps a little to you guys.  Thanks TexasSailormom for all the great info!

Thanks so much Past45 for following up on this... and others for responding...appreciate all the information!... was told he might be able to have his car... and then he would have to drive it to SD... does anyone know anything about that?... I know other branches of the service allow that - but not sure about Navy Buds...
I don't know about the car.  I will ask one of the mom's.
I am bringing electric razor too, my son said his face is a mess.  Also his friend (who is at pre buds) said no car, but told him there always are ways around that rule.  I don't know what that means, so until we know for sure we won't be driving his car there for him.
They can have their car to drive to SD but not sure at what stage they can bring it to base. Some waited to get to SD and then had their car shipped from home. Many buy bikes in SD to get around the island and in GL they take the train or several get a cab together so they don't need a car but they can have it.

Ladies it is hard to believe the time is getting so close finally!  :)    In case things get busy and I forget, and I dont see many of you at graduation I want to sincerely thank you for all your amazing support, information and advice.  I am not sure how the past weeks would have gone had I not found you all here but it definitely has been an easier road.  Looking forward to continuing on the path with many of you.  May God keep all our boys safe and healthy no matter what paths they take with their Navy careers.  :)
