Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

You will be getting a 30 second call when he get there. "I'm here, love ya, gotta go"  Then in two or three weeks you will start getting letters.  You never know when phone calls will come in.  Just keep busy, don't sit and dwell it  will seem to be forever if you do.

The letters and the phone calls will come. Don't sit and worry or you will drive yourself crazy.  No news is good news.  It will be over before you know it.  You will never be more proud of him when you see him graduate.  Try to make the graduation, it is awesome.  My son graduated three weeks ago and I was never more proud to be a "NAVY MOM"
Liz and Lisa K, join the group, New Moms Stop Here, and check out the Pages and Discussions there.  You may also want to join Leavin' for bootcamp in October or October Boot Camp Family to connect with others with loved ones who left or are leaving this week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.  Two other groups you may wish to check out are Boot Camp Mom's and PIR Reference Information.  Once you know your SR’s PIR date, go to GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation) and click on the date and join the group for that.  For now, stay busy and write letters so that when you have an address, you can get them in the mail.
Start reading the stories. Hard to let go as a mom, even if we know it's the best thing for our son/daughter. Hang in there.
My son also left for boot camp yesterday so I guess that could very well mean they will be in the same unit.  My name is Becky and I live in Pearland, Texas. (a suburb of Houston).  I am would to get to know anyone on here that needs a friend to help support each other through this journey our children have made us a part of.
