For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

About 45 minutes away from RTC...lol. I used to live in Glen Burnie, though. I loved being able to sit at the end of the runway at BWI and watch the planes!

Hi Everyone,
Like many others in this division, my son is going into the nuclear program. We got our 3rd letter from him yesterday, and I just wanted to share something that he said to see if anyone else has heard the same information. I'll quote from his letter here:
"I have some bad news about graduation weekend. While most recruits get the long weekend off to spend with their families in Chicago, Nukes will be leaving RTC at 1 am on Friday and spending our liberty weekend in South Carolina. We supposedly have 2-3 weeks before A school starts and you are more than welcome to come visit me on a weekend in SC during this time. I am allowed 75 miles off base weekends only"
If this is correct, it sounds like A school won't start until after Thanksgiving weekend. We would really like to go down and see him that weekend because we do have some time off from work, but before buying plane tickets, I just thought I would check this out with other parents. Has anyone else heard this? Is anyone else planning to go down to SC between PIR and A school? Has anyone seen anything else on any other sites? We are not on facebook, so I wondered if there was any information there.
I'd appreciate hearing from any of you Moms out there who might have more information.

My daughter did mention in her letter this week that she will be leaving the day after PIR but nothing was mentioned about the time in SC. I will ask her in my letter going out tomorrow.

My son is in a different division, but he is a nuke also. He told me that he leaves at 1 am on Friday like your son. I am trying to plan a trip over Thanksgiving weekend for myself and his brother to visit him in SC.
There's always a chance that things will change and they'll fly out later, but I am not going to get my hopes up.

Update: I booked a trip for myself and my son (SR's brother) for Nov 22-Nov 29. It ended up being cheaper than going during the busy travel times. I can't wait!

My son is not a nuke but did say that he will also be departing at 1 a.m. on Friday.

I think since we are going to be meeting each other in 28 short days, we should get to know each other better. Here is a short questionare to do just that. You dont have to answer a ? if you dont want to. I'll start. Copy and paste below and then put your answers in bold. (Let me know if you want me to add anything to this)

Where are you from? Farragut, TN (but originally Frederick, MD)
Are you excited for PIR? Absolutely. I cannot wait.
Do you have other children? If so how many? My SR son is the oldest with 2 younger sisters.
Who are you bringing to the meet and greet and PIR? My daughters, parents and my son’s girlfriend will be with me J
What is the one thing you miss most about your SR? I miss being able to pick the phone up and call him. He hasn’t lived with me for 3 years but I always took it for granted that I could contact him.
Besides seeing and being with your SR, what are you looking forward to most about PIR? Meeting everyone who has been such a great support J Seeing 2 old college friends that live in Chicago.
Name two things you consider yourself good at: Couponing and being a mindful person.
What do you do in your spare time? I am a single Mom, so I am a soccer and volleyball Mom in the fall and a cheerleading Mom in the Winter. I am active in my church and active with whatever my family needs.

Do you have other children? If so how many? I have four children of my own and two step sons. My daughter in the Navy is the youngest of all so this has brought a whole new world for me with no kiddos to care for at home....not transitioning to well into this new role lol
Who are you bringing to the meet and greet and PIR? My husband, Abe, and my 26 yr old son, Preston.
What is the one thing you miss most about your SR? Seeing her everyday and hanging out with her and her sweet smile, smiling back at me.
Besides seeing and being with you SR, what are you looking forward to most about PIR? Meeting everyone here!
