For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SHIP 04, DIV 820 and DIV 821 Brother divisions....
This discussion is for those who have an SR in Ship 04, DIV 820 and 821, PIR 10/14/11. These are brother divisions and will be spending a lot of time together from what I understand. Remember OPSEC rules and for security purposes...no pictures of your SR or names of SR. God bless you all!

I did call his Recruiter and he said I could put anything I want to, that there was no paper. And, my son doesn't remember ever filling any paper work out for it to be sent to local newspaper. So I called or local newspaper, she said to email a picture and all the information like when he left for Boot Camp, when he graduated, address so people can write him if they want, etc. So I don't know...maybe we live in a such a small town that they don't send that info out?

RTC FB says that the recruits have the opportunity to fill out a FLEET HOMETOWN NEWS form, they inturn send it to local papers with your zip code but you will need to check with your local paper to find out what their turn around time is for receiving and publishing military news announcements.

It can also depend on the paper a s to what they do with the announcements. i was diappointed that ours just had it in their on-line paper but did not put it in print.Be careful about what u put in print, like what he is doing next would be a good thing to leave out if he is going to SEAL training.

So now that grad is over how are we all doing? Yesterday was pretty good but today as reality sets in I am feeling so emotional. Is great to be able to talk to him regularly but jeez I miss him a lot. :(

During graduation we were all on such a high, the ceremony, getting to see our sailor etc.... Have come back to reality and like you said pretty emotional. I agree with being able to talk to him, we email and txt each other so it's a nice kind of different but will always miss him being here. Our long chats, his great sense of humor and HUGE smile - miss him loads :(

Yes, I was actually feeling ashamed and guilty that I feel worse right now than when he was in boot camp. It's just very final now, whereas I had so much to look forward to with the PIR. The reality of life without any of my three grown children anywhere near me and him the farthest, it feels has been hitting me so hard. I'm having a difficult time thinking that from now on and forever it will just be snippets of time with him. Thanks for letting me be where I am on here as always.

ladies,
I have been a faithful reader of this site since the start of boot camp for my son through PIR and now. You have all expressed my thoughts and feelings and continue to express them. I am glad the thread continues after PIR. This is only the beginning and I was a little afraid I wouldn't have any place to go to where I could see that I am not alone in wondering, waiting and learning. Thanks for being there. I will continue to read and feel comforted that I am not alone. God Bless and God Speed for all our young men as well as all of you.
