Is everybody really buying the refundable tickets.. my goodness they are so much more expensive!! $300 one way vs $89... does anyone know a loophole around this? or how much it costs to change dates if it happens to change?  Plus we have to worry about weather 12/02/2011  usually is bad weather season..  I guess I am worrying too much about things I have no control over..  My recruit would say... "Calm down Mom, Geesh!"  if he were here.

I feel your pain.  I wasn't looking at refundable tickets and it's still $234 to fly from Charlotte, NC.  I'm not going to book refundable and just take the chance.   Your recruit sounds like MY recruit!  Ahhhh...to be 18 again and know EVERYTHING!

I am a worrier too.  I much rather fly there myself than to drive 14 hours but it way to expensive for a family of four just before the holidays.  So we are renting a mini van for all of us. I am praying for good weather for all of us!
We are taking amtrak. It was alot less expensive. And if I have to cancel they keep 10%.

We are all praying here for good weather too at RTC
I priced out refundable on Continental from KC and it was $1753 a ticket. We went with the $59 Southwest ticket with no change fee although we will have to pay a fare difference and I know that won't be more than $150 a ticket. We took our chances. We have 6 people going. Our tickets to Scotland this past summer were $1700 which included hotel per person. Not going to pay that from KC to Chicago for a little more than an hour flight
Do they drop you off right in front of the PIR building or do you have to walk from the Entrance/Gate? If so, how far is that?
I heard the entrance gate.

I have had very brief calls where additional info was needed.  I pretty much kept it to the business needed because we really don't know what pressures and constraints are on them now but like all moms I listened to the "vibes".

Nope no call yet. Just the one call when he arrived at the airport and then another call that night saying he was at bootcamp. I hope to hear from him soon. I miss him so much and have so many questions for him but dont want to overwhelm him lol. Looking forward to meeting you all at PIR and hopefullly you all will go to Meet and Greet the night before graduation. We are staying at the Navy Lodge. Flying in from California on Wed night and flying back home Sunday afternoon.
Adam's Mom - we plan to stay at the Navy Lodge as well.  We are actually flying into Peoria and driving up to Great Lakes Thursday night because my mom lives in Peoria and we are picking her up and bringing her with us to PIR.
Where is the Meet and Greet at?
