I heard they had some really big waves on the lake and I think they're seeing something what lake weathe is like.  I was really thankful for the clear, sunny weather they had the early part of boot camp (my son arrived 10/6) because I'd hope it made things seem brighter. But I think they processed mostly so I don't know how much of the outside they actually saw.  It will be interesting to hear about it when we can finally get mail.
I'm definitely stalking the mail man for that first letter from my fiance.

Thanks for starting this discussion for this Division.

My son is also Ship 09 DIV 016.  Glad to be amongst family as our kids/spouses/brothers are all one family now.  This is a time of Pride and Unity for us and our Sailor Recruits.  I mailed off 3 envelopes of letters a card and a calling card today.  Positive correspondence boosts our sailors moral and spirits. It helps me to know that he's still a part of the family even though there are miles between us.

He is my first child and I have felt lost without him home.  Yeah, he was a typical teenage boy, lazy and played video games and text all day long, but I actually miss it. LOL

We are all in for a world wind experience with our sailors. Depending on the duty station, I'm going to be visiting my sailor.  Passports are about to be ordered. I look forward to sharing experiences with him as he serves our amazing Country.

Hi! I only have the one son and, trust me, I know what you mean about feeling lost without him. We are very close and I find myself waiting for his text message or phone call or even his smiling face to walk through the door.

Where are you from that you need a passport?  I'm in the New Orleans area.

I am sure you're like me in that there are no words to define how proud we are of these wonderful men and women! :)

Have a nice day!

Hi there ...

Got all my reservations in order and mailed five letters today now that I have the address.  Several more to be mailed tomorrow.  I'm so glad I'm able to send him mail!!

If y'all are interested, please feel free to check out my blog on here which details my experience so far:

Take care y'all!  :)

Hey Peggy!  It's Peggy, right?  Great to make your acquaintance!!  I've been keeping a journal on here of this entire experience from pre-boot camp to now and continue to update it.  Please feel free to read it because it think it helps to know we are not alone in our feelings.

I'm very proud of your son and of anyone who makes the decision to join any branch of the military.  I have such admiration and respect!

You're right ... everything is going to be alright.

I don't know if you like music, but a special song that I dedicate to my son is by Nickel Creek called When You Come Back Down.  If you get the chance, look up the lyrics or give it a listen.  :)

Take care ....

Nikki :)

HI all,

My son is on ship9 div 016.  I am so new to all this Navy stuff, he is my oldest and the only person I know who is in the Navy.  I have not gotten any letters yet, other then the first one sent with the grad date on it.  Has anyone gotten any letters yet? Also, I am having trouble uploading a profile pic, any else have trouble with that?

I don't think I will make it in time for the meet and greet. I wish I would have found this site sooner. The day I for the grad info I booked our flight, hotel and car. We have to fly out in the afternoon because my husband has to work in the morning so our flight doesn't get in until 830 that evening.
Thanks for the info. Looking forward to meeting up with all the navy moms at graduation. Like I said I guess I jumped the gun when I booked our trip. We are staying at a courtyard about 10 miles away. Praying that the weather is good so we don't run into any hold ups getting to the base that morning.

Hi y'all!  This link helps with lingo and so forth. My son was in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (the youth organization for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.  We learned soooo very much during those years.  I'll be happy to share any knowledge I have, not that I know it all. LoL

Peggy ... I did the same thing, booked asap.  Now I have to see about changing my hotel reservation to the Ramada Inn as well.  Haste makes waste?  haha

We are all in this together girls, but we can handle it! :)

I haven't received any letters written from boot camp except the form letter with his note on the back of the last page.  I am looking forward to it though.

Have a good day y'all.  ~hugs~  Two weeks down, six to go!

I haven't gotten a letter yet either. Anxiously waiting! I'm hoping today the mail man will have something for me.
