Moms are you ready to start Christmas shopping????

Our adoption for October is the USS Ingraham.  There are 201 sailors serving aboard this frigate -

191 males and 10 females (all officers).  As we all know it is very difficult to be away from your family during the holidays so after speaking with our contact we have decided to brighten up these sailors holidays by helping them celebrate Christmas.

We can send Christmas decorations such as small trees, battery powered lights and wall decorations.

I would like to see each of them receive a small stocking (6")  filled with candy or small items and a candy cane for Christmas morning in addition to our other packages.  What do you ladies think?

They requested very few things but could use sunscreen and lip balm since the weather is hot where they are deployed.  Microwavable meals would be a big hit with the crew also.  Most of them are into games, movies and sports and could use some new items to pass around.

The Captain is onboard with anything that will boost the morale on her ship and they are grateful for the support from home and will appreciate anything we do for them.  They enjoy seeing the smiles on the faces of the sailors when they receive mail and care packages from home.

Since this is a small group could we get enough of the small Priority boxes filled so that every sailor onboard would have a box to open for Christmas plus a pillowcase and a Christmas card?

Okay moms what fabulous ideas do you have to help the USS Ingraham celebrate Christmas this year?

We have several moms sending blank Christmas cards for the sailors to send to their families and several that will be sending Christmas decorations.

The shipping dates will be October 21 - 26 and the address is posted in MAS We Ship Love and mark the boxes "Christmas" or we could write "Don't Open Until Christmas".

I accepted your friend request.  Any details on what I can help with, or should I wait until next month's adoption?

Welcome Kat!

Yup, 8 individually wrapped boxes along with some christmas cards and decorations.  It was actually 2 boxes that were mailed.

If it helps anyone I included in my boxes:  travel size Axe body wash, a deck of cards, note pad and pen and then just a bag of peanuts, some candy and a Starbuck individual coffee.  The Starbusck you can get at Walgreens and they come 6 packets to a box.

Hello all.  I mailed a total of 12 small boxes today.

My post office grumpy guy said that I had to detail what was in the APO/FPO box. My description of candy and toys wasn't detailed enough because I didn't put a quantity.  He wanted me to be specific.

I looked at the female clerk in the next window over and asked her if she seriuosly wanted me to detail every piece of candy!  She took the sheet from the guy, wrote down a qty of 6 for each, and said for me to have a nice day.

Gotta love the females!

Love it!  That's so funny.  I always get nervous because as soon as I get to the counter and they start fiddling with my customs form it never fails but the line behind me starts to grow and grow...and the clerks start looking annoyed.  Sigh.  Oh, well.  It's their job and it's for our heroes!

No boxes, but I mailed a large envelope with 100 hand made Christmas cards (blank inside).  I wrote "Open BEFORE Christmas; blank Christmas cards" on it in a couple of places.  Hope the POC or someone will READ the envelope or they will all be wondering about the crazy lady who sent them greeting cards with no greeting in them!  hehe!

Yes Matts Mom 2 large energy drink boxes and 1 large box pop chips and 3 flat rates ----2 of the flat rates have 8 small boxes wrapped in xmas and one of the flat rates is stocking and stuff for POC !! ( the energy drinks from all of us is about 400 of them )

I shipped my box today- I DID get the discount on the gameboard size large flat rate - Postmaster said well of course I was wrong!  It's zip code driven and there's only one option on their computer for large flat rate!

I shipped:

8 wrapped boxes

5 small batter powered strings of lights and AA batteries

8 christmas wall hangings

Evi

Evi I am so glad that you got a discount on the box.
I mailed a total of 10 small wrapped boxes with handheld games and snacks along with 15 pillowcases, 2 large bottles of sunscreen, 9 tubes of Carmex and a few snacks in 2 large boxes and then I sent another box that has microwavable meals and some soup, I also got some tortillas and some of the tortilla stuffers micro envelope things (lol) and a bottle of squeeze nacho cheese. They can make a few meals out of that I hope. That box had to go parcel because of the size and weight.
Is there a packing party that will make up the difference?  This is my first project and I'm feeling stressed!  I have time but no more money this month!  What can I do to help us meet our goal?
I have 8 individual boxes packed, wrapped, and ready to go.  I need help with what to do next, addressing, shipping, etc.
