There is nothing like seeing your Sailor's handwriting or hearing his/her voice.  I could never put into words to anyone without children how deep the love goes.  It is a beautiful thing.  I'm so ready to see his smiling face and wrap my arms around him and tell everyone, "that's MY sailor!"  I'm happy for you Luseika!  Hope everyone gets a letter and/or call very very soon. :)
Thank you Nikinno!! And yes they are receiving all our mail. From what my fiance told me, they all love getting all the mail. It's the highlight of their day. So be sure to continue writing!

Hi y'all!  I just heard from Christian!!  He was calling for answers relating to security clearance, but we did manage to speak for a couple minutes.  He's feeling better (was on LLD - light limited duty - for two days). H

He said they have mail call every night (I thought it was only on Sundays).

All in all, he sounded good. ~smile~

He said they were told that if they had family in the Chicago area on Thanksgiving day, the recruits can spend it with their family.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to be there on Thanksgiving day, which just about broke my heart.

I'm so freaking proud, y'all!  I'm truly proud of all of the recruits ... what an honorable thing they are doing!! ~smile~hugs~

Thanks for the clarification ... I knew that and had written same on blog/emails/facebook ... just forgot to say that bit of info here as well.  Oops.

I hope you receive a letter real soon!  I don't know if you are aware, but there is a meet and greet at the Ramada Waukegan on Thursday, December 1 (not sure where you booked reservations).

Hang in there ... it's hard when we miss them so much!

I have not received a letter written from boot camp, except the form letter.  I have received two short phone calls but it was mostly "business" type calls regarding information he needed for security clearance.  I hope one comes really soon for you!!  Chin up! :)

haha I love it ...

Prayers to you too!!! :)

Hello DIV 016 Fam, I too am waiting anxiously for my first letter and/or phone call from my son. I just learned about the Ramada meet & greet on Thursday. I am flying from Vegas to DC to pick up my daughter and then on to Chicago for PIR. I hope we make it in time to meet everyone. We will be staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Waukegan. This site and blog has been such a help, thank you all for the support & great advice. Keep your heads held high and stay strong. :) Have a fine Navy day!

ststrans ... hang in there!
Congratulations!! :)
I got a real letter today. Thank you!!!!! My son sounded good, tired and busy but for the most part he is doing ok. Any one in ship 09 div 016 today they should be on 2-2 according to his letter. I hope all the other moms get letters today. It is an amazing feeling just to see his handwriting.
w00t w00t!  Way to geaux!! I'm so happy for you.  :)
