I recieved my letter from my son today! As soon as I saw other Moms say they got letters I ran to my mailbox like a 5 year old on Christmas morning! My son sounds great, I did cry when I read he gets Thanksgiving day off and if I cannot make it he goes with the adopt a sailor program to a church or firehouse to spend the day. Made me a little sad, but it also motivated me to try and move heaven & earth to see if I can make it happen...we will see. He said he passed his swim test and they were getting ready for their first inspection. I can't wait to see him in a few short weeks. Hope everyone else gets their letters as well. Stay strong...much love to you all! Have a great day :)

What is your sons ship and div# ? I know our kids left on the same day and my son mentioned that your son is in a leadership position...Congrats to him. But T.J never mentioned taking a swim test. I can't make it out for thanksgiving..but will for sure be there for the grad ceremony.

Kristie, my son is in Ship 09 Div 16, he left Vegas on 10/6/11. I dont know if he is in a leadership position, the recruiters used him as a leader because he has been in the USNSCC or Sea Cadets since he was 10 years old. So he had alot of knowledge, he has been planning to go into the Navy for a long time. Thank you though, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in December! I'm not sure if I can make it on Thanskgiving either but I'm going to try.

I'm so happy that our kids are together. It must make it a little easier knowing someone from Vegas. If you ever want to meet up for coffee and to chat let me know. I started a group for mom of lad Vegas too. So far no other moms have joined though. I don't think there are too many of us from Vegas on this website.

Krisite, that sounds great! It would be good to chat with someone who can relate to what we are going through. Thanks for creating a Vegas Moms group....I was wondering if there was one out there. I don't believe there are too many of us out here. I'm glad our sons have eachother, I think it will help them alot. I will message you my number, I live up by Summerlin off 215.

I got a letter today, too!  You would've thought I just won the lottery!  But wait, this is so much better!  SR sounded good.  Crazy busy.  Homesick.  Not a fan of the "peanut butter" shot!  It was so wonderful to hear 1st hand how she is doing...how she is handling this 1st taste of military life. Sure hope more Mom's get letters real soon.

Hi, I know I saw it somewhere but cant seem to find it again, does anyone know the link for the day to day list of what our SR's are doing?  It went from P-days to week 6 I believe.
It's one of our discussion posts in this group.
I just got my first letter. the first thing he said is he loves me and misses me. Then he shared some funny stories about IT (intensive training) due to someone farting and others chucking. Nothing better for boys then a good old fart. He said the food was good. He also told me about the ice cream party. It was so great to read his words and to know what is going on. Good luck everyone. I hope everyone gets there letters today. Time to start a Navy scrap book.
See?  I just knew you were going to get that letter soon!! Woohoo!  I admit when reading your post, I laughed about the farting story too hahaha  No matter what age, farts are funny!  hehe  :)
Thank you Peggy. I will have to look for it again.

Hey y'all!! Don't know if y'all saw this or not, so forgive me if it's a repeat (I just came across it).  I'm ordering these and thought you might be interested in doing so too:
