OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Sounds good to me! My son said to make sure his address gets around. He said that he's going to need that mail. I posted his address on his FB page for his friends. I think he's a little homesick.

I also had 2 sons leave in October - one for Great Lakes on 10/24 and the other on 10/31 for Ft. Jackson, SC (Army). Plus the one in the Army got married in October! Quite a month!

YEP that is me :) My form letter came yesterday :) I had to change my screen name to include SR#2, I had 2 sons leave in Oct!!!! Shock to the mother board! LOL That means 2 PIR 2 weeks apart!!

Nice to meet you too, Dawn. :) Wow, two sons in boot camp at the same time! One of my other sons is now thinking of joining too. I told my husband that I sort of anticipated him wanting to do this too once this son of ours committed. The son who is now in BC is our "middle son", but now the oldest is seriously thinking of doing the same thing.
Yes, Celia--I got an email out to friends and family last night giving them his mailing address. I have been writing letters every day since last Monday when he left, so I put them all in one envelope last night and am mailing it off this morning! From now on, I'm going to send one letter a day in a separate envelope each time so that he will feel like he's getting even more mail each week. :D Although I know his friends and family will write too. We need to go buy some phone cards to send him too which I will try to get in the mail this week. I'm assuming we can send pictures? I don't know. That's another question I guess I can ask the veteran moms. The short note he wrote on the back of that form letter sounded like he was very upbeat and positive and ready for the "task ahead" these next several weeks, but he also sounded like he is a bit homesick too.
Did you all see the posting topic on the PIR 12/16/2001 page about the Flags and Pennants each division can earn? It sounds like if/when they earn those, they can fly them when their division enters at graduation. We'll have to mention that in our letters to them. :) Lori

My middle son is the one who left first and gave it the most thought. My oldest is the one who followed after him! He was going to college, on his way to his bachelors degree, a personnel trainer~ and after his brother signed up and the SEALS got BinLaden he decided he wanted to go. He really wanted to be a seal but scored just short of min on his test. The physical phitnes (sp?) part was easy for him. He then trained weekly with a seal to prepare for Aschool.
2 gone at once has been a shock, since they were the two oldest and most helpful of my kids!!!! But I am very proud of them and never miss a chance to share about them :)

Thanks for starting this discussion! My son is in ship 04 Div. 19. I received his form letter and box yesterday. He scribbled on the inside cover of the box a few messages and a hurried note on the back of the form letter. He sounded great, but I will be writing him everyday to keep his morale boosted. I also changed my username to include ship and division.

Hi Jajajo and Carrie,
Welcome to our group. Looks like there will be several of us who can share notes for the next several weeks from what we hear from our sons in the same ship and division. :) One of the veteran moms responded to my question about whether or not we can send photos and she said we can, but that she would recommend printing the pictures on a regular sheet of printer paper with several pictures on the same page so as not to take up as much room in their storage bin as photo paper would.

My son called unexpectedly yesterday to say that he needed some info faxed over for his security clearance. He sounded good. I didn't ask about the "water bottle scandal", but he did say he had written a letter on Tuesday night, but that he wouldn't be able to mail it until Sunday. So, girls, hopefully, we will all have letters to compare notes with by the middle of next week!! Can't wait!
