While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Anyone recommend the Navy Lodge? Flying in at Midway on Thursday morning 7/21. Is a rental recommended?

We stayed at the Navy lodge and it was a great place. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and priced right and the staff was very nice and very knowledgable about PIR (not going to get that anywhere else). The other great thing was we were 5 minutes from RTC! This made it great the morning of PIR and for the back and forth for liberty (mine was a grad n go at Naval station Great Lakes which is about another minute away). The downside was you really need a rental car. Nothing within walking distance. There is a great mall 8 mins away, with lots of food options. I would highly recommend flying into Milwalkee (sp?) The traffic in and out of Chicago is ridiculous. The 47 miles to GL took us 2 hours at 6pm!

Are we allowed to stay at the Navy lodge? Only my SR is Navy. We are totally new to this.

Ok, so I'm VERY new to this. My Son left for boot last week and I want to make plans for going to his graduation. Probably the middle of October. Hate flying, so will probably be taking the bus from Minneapolis.
Can someone PLEASE tell me what the "Navy Lodge" is ? I will be by myself and as my son says "directionally challenged. " (Can't find my way out of a paper bag without Mapquest.)
I'm also a senior citizen on a small fixed income, but it is extremely important to my Son and myself that I attend the ceremony. I am so proud of him for following his dream. So any help with doing this on a small budget would be of great help.
Not even sure what to expect with all of this.
Please help.

Congratulations on your son following his dream to serve his country! The "Navy lodge" is run by the Navy and they are open to military and their family's. Some are located on bases, so you can only access them with military id, however the Great Lakes NL is off base. It is the closest and least expensive in the area of boot camp graduation-5 minutes and $65. It very clean with basic ammenities and a wonderful staff. There are kitchenettes in most rooms. The drawback is that they don't provide transportation, but will graciously call a cab for you. Also, there are no restaurants with-in walking distance. So getting around without a car is a challenge and it may not be the least expensive way when you factor in taxi costs.I hope this helps. Good luck!

So is Libertyville pretty close to where the PIR is? My daughter works for Hilton and can get us a good deal on a room at the Doubletree but I just wanted to know if Libertyville was close.

I stayed at the Residence Inn, it was great! Close to shoppping, stores and the Training facility. I would recommend staying there. They have breakfast and social hour.

Where exactly isit and how close to the base is it. Does it have a shuttle?

Kelly closes place is Navy Lodge Great Lakes . Lodge is located 1.3 miles from the PIR, all rooms have 2 quin beds, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and the price of 65 dollars Lodge does not charge taxes. Just call 847 689 1485 and you will have all information you need
