I would like to know if there is classes that we will have to take to get married while he is at A school. My soon to be mother-in-law told me that there is classes that we would have to take before they will let us get married. I'm trying to plan a trip to see him in Dec....Hoping that we could get married while I am there. There is just a lot that I dont understand yet.

I plan on getting married in December as well! Congratulations :) from what has happened with us so far he just had to put in a request to the chief to get married and then he'll approve it! I havent ever heard of taking classes and I'm surrounded by military but who knows everything is always changing it seems.

As of right now we are good to go to get married he is actually working on getting some leave during the holidays to come home so we can have a small wedding ! Fingers crossed! What is your fiances rate?

I wish he could come home for the holidays. Between his mother and I we are going to go and visit him whlie they are on standown. He is MM-SS. He is in CT right now he says he might be there a while. Congratulations to you as well. I hope everything works out for you to have your wedding. How long has your sailor been in and what is his rate?

My fiance and I are getting married in Dec. as well he has to take classes but I didn't. But he should ask his yeoman in his barracks. They'll give him the marriage packet and everything he has to do is in there.

Do you know what is in the packet? Do you know if he would need any of my infomation for it? Could he be doing it now and not telling me so when I get up there he can surprise me.

My fiance has not asked me for any information for the packet. They have a finance class and a relationship class and a meeting with the chaplain I believe, from what he has told me. If you're around you can go to the classes with him but it's not required for you to.
My fiance has been in a school since October his actually training doesn't start until probably January though I think that may be part of the reason he is able to request leave. He is an AME, so all his training won't be completed till late next year which is alot longer than what he was first told. He is in FL and he has been in since July. He hasn't said anything about a packet or classes I'll have to ask him about that! Thanks abuon :)

Hey ladies!  I JUST got married to my sailor over the weekend.  He is currently in A School.  He had to go talk to a financial specialist, take a marriage class, get approval, and talk to his chaplain.  From what I hear, things can be slightly different from base to base.  Just make sure your sailor is on top of all the paperwork.  He is ultimately in charge of making sure that things are taken care of.

every job and command is different. I know they recommend the classess, but I've never heard of anyone required to take them. I had to route (send up) a request chit, but that's because we were going to be at sea and i needed to take leave (vacation). It shouldn't be denied, and if for some reason it is, you have the right to make it go higher. I've had requests denied and when I sent it up the command, the higher ranking people approved it.
