Hi fellow Ship 04, Div. 19 Moms.  I thought we could start this "discussion" group since we all have something in common and go back to the main PIR 12/16/2011 group whenever we have questions for all of the veteran moms who have been so helpful.  We're in this together!

I'm glad our boys can be there for each other!

No letter for me today, either.  I'm hoping to find out more about the situation with my son's A school, which is in Pensacola (and is supposedly closed over the holidays).  I'm not sure how many days to spend at Great Lakes - probably Thursday and Friday nights because I'm driving.  I also have a son in basic training in the Army at Ft. Jackson, SC but they're much more lenient about phone calls, etc.

Debbie, my son is going to Pensacola as well. Have no idea what's going on. Didn't get to ask him. Call was soooo short!

I haven't gotten a call, either.  His recruiter had told him that he may have to go to Pensacola and then try and get a flight home for the holidays.  I can't imagine what that will cost!  Or I guess there's some sort of holding unit he may be put into.  It would just be helpful to know (I think I care more than he does!).

My son will be to to Pensacola also.  Wondering if they'll receive Liberty due to the Holidays.

Believe me, that's the first thing I'll be asking him if I get a phone call (none yet).

Angela, I'm sure your letters will arrive today (Thurs.).  You never know what can cause not receiving a phone call or not receiving letters, etc.  Try not to let it get to you.  I'm sure there is a good reason.  As I posted on the PIR 12/16 blog, sounds like my son, and some of the other sons mentioned recently, have all had cold/flu-like symptoms.  I was thrilled to also receive a call about 5:45 (CST) p.m. yesterday--it was our first call.  My son also didn't sound good at all--in fact, I thought he was calling with bad news or something because he sounded so down.  He went into SIQ about a week ago for 2 days for his cold, but he says he still has it, so that doesn't help his frame of mind I'm sure.  Also, he said the same thing Celia mentioned in her PIR 12/16 blog about Div. 19 as a group not doing well and that their phone calls were short because their officers are not happy with them.  In fact, he wasn't even sure they would be giving them their letters last night from us for the same reason.  My son is frustrated with the lack of effort and those who "just don't listen to what they are supposed to be doing" of many of the guys, but I reminded him they need to work as a team.  I think we talked about 10-15 min. before they were told they had to promptly get off.  Seemed like 2 minutes.  :)  Sounds like we need to encourage our sons to motivate their Div. 19 "mates" to step it up and get serious.

I haven't gotten a phone call, so perhaps my son has been sick.  He did make a comment in one of his letters about alot of the "kids" not being in good physical shape (he's a little older,  which is whyhe calls them kids). He also mentioned that he heard that the drill instructors for his group is the same as for Special Ops.

I think my son said they are in the same ship as the special ops, so they are training with them and being held to the same standards.  Hey, I told him to do a lot more running, etc., before he left.  But, they know best until they are in the middle of it.  Oh, well.  He said he's getting stronger everyday.  Just hope the leg pain doesn't keep him down.

Who on here is related to the Recruit Chief Petty Officer for Div 019? My son is the Division Yeoman and asked me to find his mom and wife.  His name begins with R.

When did you receive a letter from your son asking this?

He gave me the names from the first letter...just haven't put the mom and wife of the Recruit Chief Petty Officer for their division together yet.  Do you have any idea who they are?
