Does anyone know someone who has been stationed here? Looking for help in assisting my son with what items would be useful as he is quite limited in what he can take with him when he goes? Thanks!

I was there! Long tome ago, but I loved it. Club Med, Indian Ocean. Just beautiful, everyone is over 18 and no family members there, no town population. No kids, no married couples.
Did he get his welcome aboard packet? He can request one online. And a sponsor. I'd google t for you, but I'd need to know which command, there are quite a few there. Give it a try.
You can send packages, so lighter stuff such as clothes can be mailed. It is a British territory, so expect to fill out customs forms on packages. He can store his cold weather gear, but will need all his uniforms.
Be sure he takes swim trunks, and sandals, and whatever he needs for the beach. Also, take his electronics such as a laptop. His phone won't work there, but he can get one which will when he arrives. He will be living in the barracks, there is no town. There is a small, well stocked NEX on the island, so he can get sunblock and so on, or you can mail his favorites later. If he doesn't have a camera, he can get one there, the NEX stocks fun toys like that cheaper than you can get them.
Thanks for that info. Not sure what command, he will not report until March; just arrived back in Pearl Harbor today from a 6 month deployment. I would think a bike would be handy, how does everyone get around?
Everyone does get around by bike, as personal vehicles are not allowed. Usually we picked up a used one from someone departing, they get abused and sometimes stolen. I wouldn't take a super-nice bike, but he could. He can ask about a pack out by the Navy, that's how I got all my things on and off the island; books, clothes and my stereo/TV mostly. He should request a sponsor, they could fill him in on more up to date info.
Lots of sports such as fishing, team sports, and all sorts of outdoor activity. I hear they have a golf course now, if he plays. You can rent almost anything from MWR there, so he doesn't need much in the way of gear for liberty.
