I know this may be a sensitive subject for some, but I could use some suggestions.  My sailor will be in BC during Christmas so we told her that we would celebrate with her in February (hoping she gets to come home on leave).  What do you get someone who is in the Navy?  I'm not sure what she would need or would be allowed to have.

Thanks for the heads up Jenn.  My son did say that A school would not start right away.  Said they would have to wait for everyone to get there before classes start and this may be several weeks.  When we thought he would be there for 6 months we planned on taking a trip down to Pensacola to see him so if it goes like you say I guess we'll make that trip afterall.  Just have to wait and see.  Thanks again.

@Joshmom - thank you, that helps alot. My daughter will also being going to Pensacola for aviation electronics. Maybe they'll get to work together. Of course she will be a month behind your son. We also were told the training would be up to 6 months long. I hope she gets good news that it'll only be 7 weeks. She would probably want to wait as well & just take the 2 weeks after training. She is hoping to be stationed in San Diego, but there's no telling. I told her that would be great but not to get her hopes up. Supposedly the students that make the best grades in A school get first dibs on where to be stationed.

Sunshine - it's so nice to find someone else who's going to Pensacola for Aviation Electronics.  We'll have to stay in touch.  We heard the same thing about the best grades getting first pick.  If I know my son, he'll choose overseas.  Naturally I'd rather have him close to home but I would never stand in his way to see the world or do what he wants.  Ever since he signed up for the Navy I've encouraged him to take advantage of every opportunity he can.  He definitely wouldn't get to see the world without the Navy.  Good luck to your daughter during BC.  My son has actually been enjoying it.  All his letters and phone calls have been positive.  When did your daughter arrive at BC?

Last year when my sister was still in bootcamp, we drove and spent christmas with her! They get liberty on that day and you can adopt a sailor like we did! :) she said it was the best christmas and christmas present ever!!! :)
