One full day in BT and I am full of questions even though I have been a member of NFM for a few months. I suspect Jacob will graduate around February. 3rd. This will be exactly 8 weeks. Does it work that way? I would love to keep in contact with others graduating on the same day. Will their letters come early enough for family to buy tickets 6 weeks in advance?
Blessings,
Candi

Once there is a date for the new PIR group...there is a lady who asks the families of that PIR who wants to run it. For now...there are lots of groups for new loved ones.
We have a lot of good general information in the New Moms (Members) Stop Here group with a panel of advisers who have a breath of knowledge that is unbelievable. They have the answers to hard questions. No nonsense and straight shooters. Angie is one of them. We are lucky to have them. Be sure to look at the reference "PAGES" located just under the member icons. You'll find videos, pp presentation, links, sample of the form letter, etc.
Good luck to all. Welcome to Navy For Moms.
A team of moms in Boot Camp Moms group take brand new newbies into their arms and make them feel at home.
When there are enough members for a given PIR date, a member typcially steps up and starts a PIR group for that date. Again the team from the BC group will help this member start the group and post FAQs and again take the task of seeing this PIR group from beginning through date of PIR. Once the PIR group is established, I get a pm message or a comment is posted in the following group which list ALL the PIR groups - this list has the latest PIR group. I maintain this list. The group is featured, so it can always be found by clicking MAIN, scroll down on the center panel to
GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review
Special thanks sure go to the following moms who have been stalwarts in helping new arrivals (to Navy for Moms):
FireTeamLeaderWife, diannep, Lala Ribbon Queen, lemonelephant, Betsy and others (my apologies if I left your name out - please send me a pm for next time).
You will have to wait until you know your SR's Division number to know when PIR will be. PIR is generally 7 to 9 1/2 weeks after arriving, with 8 1/2 weeks being typical--except around this time of year because of the holidays and skipped weeks, which could extend it to 10 or more weeks. You can call the recruiter about 3 days after your SR left and s/he MAY have the Ship and Division number, which may allow you to also know the PIR date and will give you the information needed to write your SR by going to http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp if the recruiter doesn't give you the address as well (some do, some don't). If the Recruiter gives you a Division number that has 3 digits, then that is usually the right one and you can go ahead and write. If he gives you a Division number with 4 digits, then your SR is still in processing/holding and has not been assigned a Division yet, so wait a few days and call the Recruiter again or wait for the form letter from your recruit. You should get the form letter with the PIR date early enough to be able to purchase your plane tickets (Southwest seems to have the best policy on changing dates if that is needed if something happens).
Join New Members Stop Here and Boot Camp Mom's and check out the Pages and Discussions there. You will also find a lot of good info in PIR Reference Information. FireTeamLeaderWife does an excellent job of helping to set up the new PIR groups and posts the link within Boot Camp Mom's and in GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation).
