For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SON LEAVING MONDAY FOR BOOTCAMP
My son leaves for bootcamp on Monday. He was originally scheduled for December 20th. Before Christmas, but close enough that we could have had an early Christmas and it would have felt like it. We were only told a couple weeks ago that they would be moving up the date and then only yesterday that it would be Monday. I keep crying like a little baby. It seems so silly because it isn't like he'll be gone forever. My husband and younger son think I'm silly for crying, but I can't seem to help myself. Are there any other mothers out there struggling with this?
They say it's empty nest, but I still have my younger son around. I guess I just worry how my older son will handle bootcamp. He made this choice all on his own and we support him completely and are extremely proud of him. He keeps counting down the days and telling me to see my reaction I think. I have tried not to cry around him even though he knows I will come Monday.
I would appreciate hearing from any mothers who have been there or are there now.

Div 53 will have PIR on Feb 3, 2012. A Navy For Moms group has been set up already. The link is below.
Hello to all newcomers. If your Sailor Recruit arrived recently chances are the group for your PIR has not been formed yet. You should join the Boot Camp Moms group. We have a special group of ladies who will take you through the entire Boot Camp & PIR process. You should also watch the videos, look at the sample of the form letter you will be receiving (with your PIR date), review the powerpoint presentations - they are all listed as reference pages (located under member icons) in the New Members Stop Here group. Finally, keep in mind the Recruit Training Command has an official website. Most of your questions can be found within these three groups. If not, someone will be able to direct you to the right place/person to get the answer. Please take the time and effort to educate yourself.
If you have received you form letter, find your PIR date and join one of the established groups listed below. Keep this in a safe place (or scan and save on your hard disk).
Just click on the links below to go to the groups for the PIR dates (normally a Friday). Good luck and thank you to all Sailor Recruits and their families.

Your reaction is perfectly reasonable! I went through all those emotions last year at this time. My son went into Boot Camp in early January 2011. Navy for Moms was a life line. There is a book you might also want to look into getting, called Honor, Courage, Commitment - Navy Boot Camp, by J.F. Jeahy.

This book follows a single division (group of about 80ish men and women) through Boot Camp. There were experiences that the division went through in the book that my son hadn't gone through yet - or had only JUST gone through, and he couldn't figure out HOW I could possibly know about it yet! That was because of the book and because of THIS website.
I don't know what I would have done without this web site while my son was in Boot Camp, and before. For many family members, this is the first time they have been completely out of communication with their son, daughter, husband, brother or sister.
So keep checking back here, this is the best place to get information from people who know EXACTLY what you're going through! I found that a lot of the time, other people in my son's division heard from their relative before I did, and it gave me something to look forward to, if only because I knew that information was on it's way. I found the "information black out" to be the worst. My imagination is WAY worse than the actual.

When did your son go in? My son arrived there on 12-8 and I haven't even received my box yet. I am trying to be patient but yet anxious for information.

My son arrived at 9pm on the 8th as well from Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX . No box yet but from what I am reading, I expect it will be here when I get in from the office on Monday.

My son arrived at 11:45pm on the 7th, I have not yet received the box, I expect with weekend and holiday mailings to get it tomorrow. Will keep you posted. I thank each of you for your support, As all Moms have expresssed, the lack of communication is difficult and made more difficult by the time of year...

My sons box arrived about a week after he left and it was shipped fedex 2 day air...but I haven't emptied it yet...lol...I'm not in any hurry...Best regards

My son is ship 09 Div. 045, Great Lakes, and yes i did get the form letter with short note on the back, wherein he explained he didn't have time to start his phone to call home when he arrived at BC...so this short note was a very welcomed unexpected gift...

My son arrived on 12-5 and I got his box about 3 days later but we are in WI so it's close to Great Lakes.

My son left for Great Lakes Nov. 17 and I was filled with an array of emotions, pride, joy and sadness. I am dealing with empty nest as well,..seperated/divorcing, daughter moved out with fiancee, and spouse took our dog...but I know that this is not about me, it's all about my son and his new life adventure. I received an unexpected call from him on a week day evening 11 days after his arrival at B.C.. He needs security clearance for his job position, and he contacted me to request family info..At the end of the 3 min. call which was strictly business, I did ask him how he was doing, and he said he was seriously considering quitting. Then he said I gotta go, and ended the call. I assume he was being monitored. Well, I contacted family members and asked that everyone send a letter of encouragement. The letters he received, helped to lift his spirits, motivate him and engage his sense of pride. I have since received two letters from him and he is now doing well, he is now a flag bearer, he passed his physical test and written test and says he is not coming home and is looking forward to graduation. So my point is, write to your son/daughter, often, and encourage others to do the same. It is not only very important to the recruit, but also ( I believe ) theraputic for me. It is the most I can do for my recruit now other than prayer. I hope to get my first " real " phone call today. Wishing you well....

Looks like your son's PIR will be Jan 20. Here the link to a Navy For Moms group formed with members whose sons/daughters all have PIR on same date. Good luck.

Moms/dads, see the numbers after the "Divisions" - they refer to division numbers on your form letters. Division 47 to 52 have their PIR date on Jan 27, 2012 - see above for link to this group.
