My son left 12/1/11 and is Ship 12 Div 053.... I hope to get a letter soon.. I got the form letter with a paragraph on the back, and the box but no official letter yet.

KATHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I JUST GOT ON HERE! :):)

I just saw you on another post!!! I'd frined you but not sure how :-) the only friends I have on here have asked me :-)

Hi! My husband is also in Ship 12 Div. 053. I received his box not long after he left (Dec. 1), but I still haven't received the form letter. I see that many have received the letter, so hopefully I will get it soon! I was able to get his address from his recruiter and have been sending him a letter almost everyday. (The recruiter said to do so, as this is what keeps them going.) Have you received a letter from your husband yet? It feels great knowing a graduation date!

Hi everyone...my son is also Ship 12 Div 053.  He shipped out on Dec 1 and we have received his letter.  Waiting on the first letter from him.

My son's girlfriend received a real letter yesterday. Said it was going fairly well, will be in great shape. Hope everyone receives news soon! Maybe he will write me next.

I hope you get a ltter soon orderentry! My sons girlfriend got one yesterday too and I was a little bummed.  But mine came today!

Just got my first letter today! I feel so much better and encouraged after reading it! Things are tough but he is making it through. Lot's of studying till wee hours of the night and an early wake-up at 0500. But the food is good and there is drip coffee.

FYI- Don't send a lot of pictures since they don't have much space and can only keep a couple. But my SR says you can copy and paste them in a letter.

Did you receive your form letter from him?  It had all the info re: greaduation.  It's February 3rd!

It is nice to know when they're done!  I got my box (we're in WA) in about 4 days and my form letter around the 8th I think....... then I got a real letter on the 13th.  He said they get mail every night not just on Sunday, that's what I thought too.  They can only write on Sunday (I think they get special privilages sometimes to write other days) but they get mail daily.  So we've all been writing as much as possible and buying crazy cards or cut out comics just so he has something to read.

Are you going to the graduation?  I'm so excited, it's going to be tough for us financially because my hubby was laid off about 3 years ago and our savings is gone....... but I just can't miss this!

I wonder if it would be appropriate to call his recruiter about you not getting the form letter........... they probably couldn't do anything but it seems strange you haven't gotten it.

I know what you mean about the financial stress! We dont want to miss this big day for our only son so we hae decided to drive (from Arizona) since that is the cheapest way possible for the 5 of us to go!  It should be an interesting trip!

I have sent a few pictures already but I asked my son if he still wants me send them or not.  I will wait to hear back from him until I send any more.  I just put 1 or 2 in with his letters and figure if he keeps the letters the pics dont take up more room in the envelope than one more page of a letter would.  I'll just wait to see what he says I guess.

Now that we have started getting mail from our SR's, hopefully they will be allowed some phone calls home soon!!

Got another call from my SR tonight! He is doing well. He called because i had written i haven't got the DoD form to get my id. But I'll take any chance to hear my SR's voice especially when he sounded more upbeat and happy! Has anyone else received the DoD form?
