I have a few questions for anyone who can answer them. I am currently engaged to a Sailor, but my questions really come from something else.
I am currently a sophmore in Pre- Med. I am thinking about joining the Navy in the Officer program. The questions I have are:
Is there a way my sailor and I can be stationed together or close to each other if I join? We plan on getting married before I join the Navy.
What is the officer program? How long will my contract have to be? What all does the officer program include?
Any information on the officer program or on joining the navy and being with a spouse would help greatly. Thankx

He;s enlisted and you want to go officer? The Navy hates that, officer and enlisted are not supposed to fraternize. However, if you were married before becoming an officer, it may be alright. You simply could never behave any way except 100% professional when in uniform.
For details on an officer program, you would need to speak to an officer recruiter.
Getting stationed together.... that is called spouse co-location, and is not an option for enlisted sailors on their first enlistment. My husband and I had "co-location". He was on a ship in Sasebo, I was in Yokosuka. He couldn't come see me unless he took leave, which was rarely granted. We saw each other 28 days in the first two years of our marriage. He did get orders to another command up in Yokosuka, but I was going to be up for re-enlistment and new orders. They couldn't find a job for me in the area, and were going to send me to California. I did not re-enlist and became a dependent wife. It is damn difficult to pull off being a dual military couple, as for officer and enlisted? It won't be easy. You cannot be at the same command, but perhaps could get the same base or geographic area.
People say that the Navy is ok..with Officer and Enlisted if you where together before one was an Officer...but that really isn't true...normally one of them is highly recommended to leave the USN.
They do not like ANY Officers and Enlsited to be together.
