OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

What can we send for Christmas?
My son has been on ship 04 (with a stress fracture) since early November and likely not released until mid January. He missed graduating with his original division, and I would like to know if we can send anything special for Christmas?
I know space is limited, and he can't have too much (still boot camp) but can we send cookies or something like that...or do they have that kind of stuff at the cafeteria or commissary? Any other ideas? Thanks! Mark

Mark.. How is he doing? Haven't heard from you. I don't know about sending anything for Christmas. We were just going to wait until he was able to come home. Hoping at least by the New Year.

He seems to be healing "well", but he has a new Dr, that is big on physical therapy (which I'm glad for).
It looks like the original 6-8 weeks might be 8-10... so we wanted to do something special for Christmas...

As much as you want him home and finished, you also want him to heal properly. We are also grateful for the Dr. our SR has. He had ours in physical therapy right away, even before he was out of the metal brace. We will continue to pray for him and his recovery.

Monchita...Mark gave good advice and information. Our son has been there since Oct. He has chosen to finish in RCU.He is EOD. We are praying to get a call this week that he has finished, but he may not have been released by the doctor yet. We received the same 30 second phone call as Mark and it was devastating. I think more because of how much he was hurting than anything else. We don't write everyday now, but until this past week we did. We are just so hoping that he finishes soon. It has been such a long time. Just encourage him as much as you can and tell him how proud you are of him. It will be difficult for him for a couple of weeks or more, but as he gets better his spirits will improve. They started ours off in physical therapy right away to help keep him in shape. Hopefully they will do the same with yours. We will be praying for your son and family.

Cards are a good idea, but keep them small. My son has asked for a large envelope twice now so he can send stuff back (he wants to keep the letters from his fiance). They have very little space to store things and still MUST keep all neat and tidy. I was also told to send crossword puzzles, small pictures, brain teasers, and of course inspirational/encouraging things, as they may have more down time while in rehab. Mine kept writing (his fiance) that he felt like he "let us down"... that was what really killed me! Just stay in touch, and since you don't know how long it will take mail to get to him, maybe include a sealed envelope inside your next mail that says "open on Christmas"... so you know he has something on Christmas. All the best!

Call the RDC and ask. It's not likely. You might ask if they are letting them have visitors on Christmas...as they did on Thanksgiving. However if you want to flood him with cards let me know and I will have several Navy Moms and wives send him tons of Christmas wishes. My daughter spent quite some time there. She finished her final PFA on the fractures. Send me his address in a message not on the main page if you want to take me up on the cards.
