got a letter today!!!

I got a call on Thursday as well!  It was wonderful hearing his voice and getting to talk to him!  Sorry I didn't post this earlier, but we had Drill (Navy Reserve) this weekend and I have been plain exhausted!!  I can't believe that we only have a month to their PIR!!! OMG I am getting soooo excited!

I hope we get letters this week!

Anyone in our group going to Great Lakes to Adopt their Sailor on Christmas Day?  I feel bad - my son wants us to come but we are too far away  (southeast GA)- this is his first Christmas away from home and Mom and Dad and all the other family members.

I hope wherever he gets to go for the day he has fun and good holiday food.

No, we are not going to GL.  We simply can't afford it with Christmas, and then going back in two weeks.  I spoke to our son on the phone about it last week, and he was the one who told us not to come up!  I am soo hoping he gets adopted by a great organization and has loads of fun.  I look forward to the time they can make calls on Christmas day or skype with us on the computer!!

I really do miss him alot :-(

I know several of you have ordered ribbons from me to wear to PIR. All of those orders have now been shipped. Please let me know what you think of them when they arrive. I am sure you will love them :-D With the holidays here the shipping seems to be taking an extra day or two depending on how far you are from me but hopefully you will all have them by this Friday or Tuesday at the latest. The mail doesn't run on Monday so letters from your SR's will probably be delayed next week as well. If anyone else would like to order the ribbons to wear to PIR to support your Sailor just send me a friend request on this site or send me an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and I will send you all the ribbon info as well as some helpful tips for PIR. You have more time to place your order if you want to wait until after Christmas :-) I hope you all have a great day.

I've had the motel reservations - just now booked airline reservations!!!!   I am READY!!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

hello kensmon. i am very new to doing this, but you son's numbers match my son's. i just wanted to reach out to some so close, then i feel close to him. thank you, vc.

I got a phone call yesterday from my son - he spent the day at the First Baptist Church in Hammond, Ind. He said he was having a good time and the food was great. They had a gym and he got to play basketball - his favorite sport.

We may have pictures of your sailors, If you got a call on Christmas that said they were in a church in Indiana, They were with us and we took pictures for you all to see, Navy for  moms has to approve all the pictures so it will be a bit before the photos are posted otherwise I started a page on Facebook for you all to at this link if you have Facebook these pictures are viewable now :) hopefully you see your sailor! :https://www.facebook.com/groups/317793551584624/

I was very impressed to see how many people showed up for Christmas. The line was out the door and into the parking garage. I thought I was crazy going so far to only have my son for a few hours. We also adopted a wonderful young man from Alabama. Great day with two great young men!

As a side note for PIR- be prepared for long lines & CRAZY cold. They're expecting snow the day before and might get up to freezing day of. Bundle up!

Brrrr it's already freezing here in Maryland, feels like temps 9 degrees with 30mph winds and snow squalls!!  UGH
